What I think happened was your thermostat got stuck closed and the pressure built up! It built up to the point where the weakest spot in the cooling system gave in. Happened to me. Exact same spot aswell. You'll notice a sticking thermostat by feeling the bottom radiator hose after a long drive. It will be cold or Luke warm. But the upper hose will be hot af. Also, the bottom half of your rad will be cold aswell. Trick is to get all the air out of the system when it's fixed by running the heater core on 24/7. For like 10 months. Constantly burping it after and before every damn drive. If you don't get the air out, there will be issues with the thermostat not opening, even if it's a new one. And if not fixed, the thermostat can get stuck closed over time.

The same thing happened to me with my 540, it’s due to age that’s all it is usually you can tell by the color of the hose when he goes brown that mechanism that you pull up on that’s it when they turn brown time to change them, anyway, that’s the word. And that brown stuff is h20 Used distilled water only and coolant, that should hold you for two years. It’s happy motoring from there. Keep track of when you change it.

That's pretty common it's just because they're old. If you compare the new hose to the old hose you can see the old one is swollen compared to the new one. The plastic connectors on the hoses just go through so many heat cycles that they get brittle after years of cycles.

This happened to me when i changed my alternator. I had to remove that hose so i pulled up the clips and when i grabbed the hose it broke off in my hands. In the same spot as yours. Old age and those engines run hot. So the plastics and rubber dont hold up very well.

You need to bleed the cooling system of air, the air pocket in the engine takes away your heat and causes extra pressure on the system

@@A1Brian yeah bro np advance auto parts have a decent bleeder it comes as a universal tool and has one that fits perfectly on the expansion tank also be sure to have the heater on blast and while you bleed it hold the rpms between 2 and 4500 for a few seconds a couple of times until you see no air coming out it works great and I’ve never had any issues with it
