Like others on this video, you did an amazing job, other than making the replacing of the clip look easier than it was, at least with me. Seriously a great video and replace them in no time. Thanks

Wish I saw this video a week ago! I have just done the front discs and pads on my F11. Could not for the life of me separate the caliper from the carrier, so ended up doing the whole job with them together. Those anti-rattle clips are a nightmare too! 🤣

Excellent video! Great tip about the rotor retaining screw - these can be a real pain to remove if they're corroded. I have a 550i similar to this, and the biggest challenge for me was reinstalling the anti-rattle clip. I used new ones since the originals were seven years old. The Akebono ceramic pads are very good and don't make black dust like the OE pads.

I have 2013 550i I replaced oem rear pads at 35k miles I got pads from fcp euro. Front pads I didn’t do they had bunch of meat left. I’m currently @72k miles still have bunch of meat left I think I can go 10k mikes with originals. Great video

great video - thanks. One thing: I've seen where the brake pad reset feature on the dashboard computer is performed after the job. Is that something that should be done at the end?

🤚🇵🇱🤚 7mm - 30Nm 8mm - 35Nm 9mm - 50Nm According to the NEWTIS instructions, the guide screw with a diameter of 9mm should be tightened with a force of 50Nm. There is one more thing: before you retract the piston, it would be a good idea to slightly unscrew the bleeder and connect a hose to it so that the old brake fluid can be pumped out while reversing. Of course, you need to top up the fluid at the end. Regards....😉👍

Do you have to “prime” the break pedal or break system when you’re done installing pads and rotors like some other vehicles?

In the video where you replace the HUB, you mention the e-Torx screws holding the carrier are recommended to be replaced. In this video, you're reusing the Hex Bolts that hold the caliper. Can you clarify which one is correct? The E-Torx as single use while the HEX are not?

Can you please do a video of the rear brakes for the F10. The electronic parking is something im not sure what to do. Some say use a scanner to the put the EPB in "service mode" and some say to manually push the caliper back in with a torx bit. I hope a video can clear this information.

Did the same job on 2016 f10 528i... but did not change the sensor. Is this the reason for chassis stabilization and parking brake lights being on? Not quite sure how to get rid of the Christmas tree in my gauge cluster...

Why do you need to remove the guide pins if you're removing the caliper bracket off the wheel carrier anyways? I usually just unbolt the caliper bracket bolts and swap the pads that way. Is there a disadvantage to doing that?
@aliawad12022 ай бұрын
There is no disadvantage, I believe that this was done to show a FULL removal and installation of the pads and rotors.

Wouldn't you check for rotor runout before replacing?
@dariusGarage Жыл бұрын
I wouldn't be surprised if the brakes were the cause of the pulsation since the "old ones" were oe style pads. They don't have an expansion slot down the middle like the akebono pads which means they can crack and cause issues like pulsation, that being said I didn't see any cracks on the old pads when Mike was compressing the caliper. You can also see that the oe textar pads left behind pad material on the rotor which causes brake pulsation more often than not, again it didn't look too bad on the outer side I only see one oddly shaped spot, and on the back side I could see a little one. However when Mike was torqueing the wheel down there seemed to be quite a bit of movement in the front wheel suggesting tired control arms, they look original and at 9 years old and what looks to be at least 50k miles on the car they are bound to be worn. I guess when we get a suspension DIY video for F10s from FCP we'll know what the outcome was :D

If you're in there doing a job, whether it's a customer's car or yours your diagnose it, don't let them do it. Check it for the damn bushings already.

The only thing that truely needs grease here- the guide pins, BMW says is optional? Edit: a very small amount of dielectric grease for the sensor isnt a terrible idea either
