I test drove a brand new 5 series a few days ago, which has practically the same interior interior as the 7 series and if you dont like the interior, you've clearly never sat in the car let alone driven or owned one. The interior is insane. Its very special.

This segment in a Nutshell 1- Mercedes fanboys: the S Class is the best car ever made, has always been and will always be 2- BMW fanboys: The 7 Series drives better and i'm a car guy so i don't need a chauffeur 7 all day baby 3- Tesla fanboys: the Model S is the best car ever made, has always been and will always be 4- Audi fanboys... Nowhere to be seen because the A8 is a pos, but we don't mind 5- Maserati and Jaguar fanboys: at least it's not german. Special mention to the Lexus LS, always forgotten.

mitja čebulj I did drive the current S-class, but not the 7-series. The S-class objectively is the class leader if you're judging the passenger seat, but as a driver it's not that good. Even the key is the cheap key from 2006 C-class, the infotainment is a bit of a pain to use, the car is quite heavy and it feels like it doesn't like corners, some controls are oddly positioned etc. A8 is just getting a bit old now to be honest, just need to wait for the new one. But the 7-series is spot on

OK! We heard and saw your review. However, I do not appreciate your criticism of the gear shifter/lever. You may not like it's position, trust me, many, many of us love it the way BMW designed and situated it. That's the ideal/practical location for a gear shifter. And it's not fat, it does not obstruct anything, so why are you complaining about it. This is a Bimmer and not a Mercedes Benz. We lovers of BMW do not like gear shifters on the steering column. For all purposes, BMW got it right at the right spot. please don't mess with it. If you don't like it, perhaps you need to get an MBZ. Period. Thanks.

Love the car wow reviews but thought the review on this car was a little harsh or perhaps rather not in depth enough. I own this car fully speced with fridge and all, sold the s500 and will never own a Mercedes again after this. Most people dont realise what the new 7 did. In terms of the review, I've seen more praise on Audis and other new 2018/2019s that were introduced by this 7 series tech, handling and spec wise. Now design and looks wise opinions will always differ but quality and tech related, believe me when i say the 7 has leap frogged the S class. This from someone that owned and lived with both. The 7 is still in the garage.

Not true because on CNet and CarMagazine.co.uk (for example, it's not the only ones) the 7 Series comes on top. The S Class seems to "win" most of the time, and in the big magazines (auto express, motortrend), but it doesn't wipe the floor with the 7.

Im not a merc fanboy, just think most modern mercs are better looking and more upmarket than bmws these days

Having driven both the S class and 7 series...BMWs always out drive. They are a driver's car. I was privileged enough to own a late 5 series with a big inline six mated to a six speed manual when stationed in Germany and it is/was the best driving car I have ever owned to this day

+carwow youre missing the point. not all kinds of cars have to be reviewed in the same way. for instance on this car you can review details that are not even measureable on normal cars. also you can do a 3-way review with the new panamera and the s-class and see decibel levels inside whilst on a highway. bump force levels. performance. premium services offered by manufacturers. etc...sometimes it pays to be less cheeky and it will still be interesting

The problem with the 7-series is that it doesn't seem special. The chrome bits are black on this model, making the overall appearance less gaudy, but this is still a chintzy car. The S-Class is elegant, clean and effortless, despite being three years old now. That BMW shifter looks so out of place on this car. It could've used a redesign. This is a glorified 5 series with a bunch of gadgets. The S Class is still king.
