I've grown to love the F01. At first I hated the large kidney grilles. But now I love it, it's very daring, there's nothing timid about it. This car stands up and says boldly: I AM BMW. People don't realise this generation's design is a statement. I promise years from now ppl will remember this generation with respect.

Although I totally agree with you, I believe they did that for historical reasons. If I'm not mistaken, its supposed to be a portrayal of Andy Warhol. BMW hired the famous artist in the eighties to paint several of their cars to showcase them.
