Nice, I saved this, i picked up a 75 R75/6 that had not ran in quite some time, when I first got it running it didnt smoke very bad at all, now after 3 months of riding, she's smoking like the gals in the bars in the 1980s. Appreciate the level of effort you went to to make this!

Did you pull the cylinder off to replace the base gasket? I'm getting ready to replace my pushrod seals as well, and was wondering if I need to invest in a wrist pin puller to remover the cylinders to change the gaskets or if they would hold if reused. Thanks, good video.

I did not replace the base gasket, I cleaned it up and it was in good shape, I was very delicate. There are small oil passages that you don't want to plug up with any kind of gasket maker but to be honest I bet if you put a thin thin thin coat on the gasket it wouldn't hurt. I'm sure there are some real bmw techs that can give better advice. I work on whatever anybody brings me and not brand specific, so I usually just use my best judgement based on the circumstance, and follow the service manual step by step. I bet bmw would say you have to replace it though, officially.
