BMW CE-04 Fixed!

So turns out it was the software all along. The motor was fine!

Mine has been in storage since November 1st. I periodically check the charging level. It has not dropped at all, still at 82%. That’s awesome. You don’t have to worry about a battery slowly being drained while in storage.

The recommended state of charge for a lithium ion battery ,is between 30% and 70 % . Anything higher or lower can and may degrade your batteries faster over time

U have water coolant for the engine, and u have gear oil for the gears. They overfilled the gear oil by 25ml if they put 0.2 L.

Glad it was fine, hopefully no reoccurrences. The CE 04 should be more reliable than its predecessor, particularly the dreaded ILM defect that many C Evo owners come upon, me included. BMW Japan replaced my charging unit for free, so I’m very happy with that as it was an almost 3 year old bike at the time. It took a month to transport it from Osaka to Tokyo or was it Chiba where BMW HQ are, as local dealers are not trained to service the high voltage battery. So, you should be good and continue to enjoy yours for a long time! As you said, there is nothing else like it, and requiring no 車検 for the size and performance is unique to it!

i’m happy that your bike is all right and that you can ride again!! oh, can you please tell us the latest software version that you have now in your bike?? I received mine almost 2 months ago and I didn’t have any kind of problem. Just going to check if my bike has the latest software update. Last week I had my first check at 1000 km.

日本では CE-04 のコンフォートシートは入手しにくいのかなと思った（この動画では独自の座布団というかクッションを追加されていたように見えた）。CE-02 用のコンフォートシートは、いまのところオプションとして用意される予定となっているので。

この動画では、オンラインで購入したシートを使用していました。CE-04のシートは少し硬いので、それを柔らかくするためにパッドを使用しています。CE-02はCE-04と類似したシートを使用しているようです。おそらく、それよりもさらに薄いかもしれません

Hi, My CE 04 is arriving this week. I was wondering if you think a Hiplock D1000 can be used with this bike? The covered wheels make it hard to judge from pictures and videos. Thanks.

Looking at the hip lock, I dont think it will work since the wheels are disks instead of spokes. It wouldnt fit through the wheels, front or back. The bike already has lots of security. It locks itself in place and cant be moved without the key, so no one can roll it away. Good for parking on hills too.

That sounds unnecessarily expensive? The inspection seems fairly standard. And if the bike is new, nothing needs to be done. The oil they use for the motor is cheap. ($10)

That’s how they stick it to you in the US. And no chocolate 🍫. They change the oil on the transmission if you can call it that.

Do it yourself. All there is to do is gear oil change, check brakes, brake fluid, and check belt.

Oil ???? maybe in the breaks... but never ever in the electric motor...

The CE-04 does have oil in the motor used as a coolant. Same as the energicas. Its a small amount that doesnt need changing very often.

@@bluepawn Im not sure how necessary it is. Most EVs don't use oil as coolant, as far as I know. Hopefully they will redesign the motor in the future to use no oil.

@@Bobbgeane Not really sure what it uses to be honest. I assumed it was coolant too, but from what they said its some kind of oil being used as a coolant. Either way, its something that requires changing, but not very often. Not as much as a combustion bike or car. I know the Energica bikes have it too. Its a gearbox oil change for those bikes. For the CE04 it could just be a coolant for the motor.
