Hello ! My 98 vert is having top issues men. I did new gears for the tunel, did new gears for the front top motor, but now the rear window won’t work 🤷🏽‍♂️ is the motor dead? Or the dude when bad ? Or the module computer when bad ? HELP ! 😭

I have a 1996 328i. The roof apparently used to work in manual mode as the previous owner didn't know it was power assisted. Thanks to your video I have just 're attached the motors which were off. My question is do I have to reset the red lever under the rear seat? And also do the windows need to be down for it to work?

So if someone rememoved all the convertible parts, motors, cables how much weight do you think would be removed, I am looking at a e36 m3 convertible, but comes with a hard top, so I was thinking of permanently attaching hard top, and adding x brace and partial roll cage to attain better rigitidy.

@@detroitmeleisea13 no, I haven't...I've not found anything on how much weight is actually reduced lol, I have found that convertibles are way cheaper in e36, E46, so it's very tempting lol.

I have a problem with mine where the roof its almost at the very end but will not close when im closing the roof and attach it to the windshield do I need to change out that front motor to fix it?

seems like you need to chance the two brackets that hold down the soft top.

Great video. Just one detail missing on how the trunk flap opens? My e46, everything works but the trunk flap doesn't open and the top gets stuck midway. What do I need to diagnose/fix?

My guess would be latches are stuck. I just picked up an e36 with the same issue. I hope it’s easy to fix cause I need to get in the top storage compartment to change the suspension

BMW dealer can reset motor , sometimes rust can cause troubles too. Use contac electric parts cleaner.

Lmao. My car exactly. Same color top, also estoril blue, except mine is factory 5 speed and sand beige. In my experience: the tonneau cover motor eats the cog gear ($40) replacement, and the top computer sauder traces crack, causing the tonneau cover to shudder and the the top not to work. Main top motor is trouble free, microswitches are trouble free, front motor dies. The tension straps wear out super quick and are very pricey TL:DR Top module and tonneau motor are the biggest failure points

A metal roof is really simple compared to this LOL
