Thanks for the video, for others reading this although it may seem obvious it is worth tying some rope to the fuel pump pipes after you disconnect from the fuel filter, then when you pull the fuel pump out complete with pipes you can easily pull the pipes back across when you install the new fuel pump. The rings that hold the pump and filter down unlock in an anti-clockwise direction, then can be quite stiff at the start, a blast of WD40 can go a long way to help get them rotating freely.

If you do the job at a 1/4 tank, then a little fuel drains out. You can collect most of it with a 5 gallon bucket. That said, if your pump operates, the best bet is to power it manually until the tank is empty and collect the fuel in a fuel caddy. That's the official way to do it and is also the safest form of handling. These fuel pumps don't fail often. I've seen some with over 150k still going. What does fail is the plastic lid which serves as the regulator. It cracks and leaks, just like it does on any other BMW. So if you have a fuel smell, or the car is hard to start after sitting for several hours, you likely have a cracked lid. Even tho the pumps are durable, I always upsell my customer the fuel pump when I do the lid. Just makes the most sense labor wise. Who wants to go in there again to replace the pump down the road when it eventually does fail? It's a wear and tear item after all.

hey the QD attachment right above the automatic trans cooler connected to the small resavor thats a 90 degree angle is that part able to be changed without buying a entire new coolant recovery tank mounting plate? mine broke right at the joint at the 90 degree angle i was wondering if it would be possible to order just that joint and install it into the coolant recovery tank. does anyone know the name of the part or the part number?
