@@ThrottleBackRubberDown that’s awesome man. I figured you had to be bummed. I gotta fix plastic on the vintage sportbikes all the time and I know it’s easier if you buy It that way instead of have it happen while you own it.

We're having our demo days this weekend here in Jacksonville, Florida. Only R18 models. Good turnout considering the weather.
@ThrottleBackRubberDown3 жыл бұрын
They are really pushing the R18. Sadly, they did the bike very well but built a bike no one was asking for so I don't think they will move too many when it is all said and done.

Here in the UK we just book a test ride any time, generally for an hour although when I took wife for a test ride on my xr we were out for 2 or more. If I'm at a loose end on weekends I often ride to a dealer and test ride a bike I've not ridden and generally they're more than happy to accommodate. Great videos by the way and you're original review is one of the reasons I tested the xr and now own one.
@ThrottleBackRubberDown3 жыл бұрын
The dealers sound fantastic in you area! I am glad you found the review helpful or at least useful enough to encourage you to get on an XR for a test ride which it sounds like in your case, like mine, prompted you to get one!

District is near where I live - some nice folks there. I talk to the Harley side of the business usually. I like Demo Days - I've done a Ducati one and a Harley one, and both were not overcrowded, so I got to ride what I wanted both times.

Right on. District seems like a pretty good dealer. I only had that one experience there but was pretty happy with it.

Demo days are a fun, but limited, way to try out some new motorcycles. A chance to try on the latest and greatest of the various brands. Best demo day for me was at a Ducati track day. Getting to rip around a closed track on a brand new Ducati was great fun!

That sounds like the best demo ever!

If you attend the demo day have a ride out on the new RT1250, if you like touring with a bit of oomph then that bike should be the next choice after the X-R, it’ll be near the top of my list. Ride safe everyone

Great choice on the RT1250. It did catch my eye when I was down at the dealer on Friday...more on that later though.

My experience in Germany so far is very positive. Most of the time i came to the dealers i could try the bike that day, and after only signing one paper and showing my driving license, so basically, in a 30min after a brief introduction to the bike, I was on the road. I believe they gave me bikes based on how interested i looked into it, so perhaps, first Impression. I believe the more they know me, the more time they would give. For example, KTM guy gave me around 30mins first time but than around an hour next time. An amazing dealer of mine, after hearing i got stuck with my previous bike and need changing badly, gave me a whole day of riding my XR just so i make sure it's right for me. In both cases i just needed to refill the gas back to where it was. And yeah, usually one needs to sign the paper and confirm he will pay if he makes a damage (somewhere between a thousand or two thousand euros, perhaps).
@ThrottleBackRubberDown3 жыл бұрын
Sounds like you have some fantastic experiences. Based off of what I hear it sounds like dealers are a bit more liberal on that side of the pond when it comes to handing out time on machines.
@veljkovic923 жыл бұрын
@@ThrottleBackRubberDown yes. And to be honest, i feel like we, as bikers, definitely need more time to test the bike. Because we connect with the bike so much and so many factors influence the ride. That's why, I'd prefer to even pay for a whole day of riding next time i want to really test the bike. Sometimes, you can't feel all of the things after 30mins ride (i believe many times), and what if they occur later? What if you paid for it big money... Before, when there were fewer models on the scene, it was easier i believe. But now, one definitely needs to research properly.

I have never been on a demo day. Actually I bought my bike without test riding before. I get to the dealer to look at two 700GS. The traffic school where I took my license had 650GS and a 700GS so I was familiar with the 700GS. But instead of 700GS I ended up with two 750GS. 😊

I am not quite sure what exactly a demo day entails. My BMW dealer has a couple of bikes set aside for the purpose of test rides. So, if I want to take a specific bike for a spin, I’d simply reserve one for the day and hour convenient to me. No need for a demo day, unless there is more to it. Also, don’t forget the restrictions imposed upon us in certain countries due to this pesky coronavirus.
@ThrottleBackRubberDown3 жыл бұрын
It sounds like things are a bit easier on that side of the pond when it comes to demoing new machines. That being said, BMW is better than most and will usually let you take out just about most machines with very little hassle so the idea of BMW doing a demo day is a little redundant depending on your dealer of choice around here.
@marcos.17713 жыл бұрын
@@ThrottleBackRubberDown I am not aware of any demo days planned by my dealer, but indeed, if a potential customer wants to test ride a bike from my dealer, there is always the ritual of disinfecting the critical parts of the bike first. And it may even come worse, because rumor has it that the authorities are now considering a total lockdown, in Germany they may even close all supermarkets. Not the coronavirus will kill them, but hunger.

That is one thing I think Harley does well. They let you test ride bikes like a car dealership.

Yeah...I like them but don't like all the waiting that is required some of the time. The best is when you just find a great dealer who is always more than happy to put you on one regardless. Bob's is fantastic about letting folks ride.
@EasyRiderGreg3 жыл бұрын
I'm not a fan of demo days. I prefer to go to a dealer when it's convenient for me and pick a bike out of inventory and go ride where and how I want to ride it. If a dealer won't let me do that they will not get business from me.
@ThrottleBackRubberDown3 жыл бұрын
I can totally relate to that. I really prefer to have my own schedule and do my own thing when it comes to riding a bike that I am interested in.
