Damn impressive. Instead of the boiled hot glue, there is a product called Oyamaru. It's a thermoplastic that comes in little bars. You put it in boiling hot water, which makes it soft and malleable. You can then press it onto what you want to make a mold of. Let it cool down to room temperature and it's set. Then you can use modeling putty or even resin to make your copy. Best thing is that it's reusable. If you don't need the mold any more, you can put the Oyamaru back into hot water to soften it and use it to make another mold. And it's fairly cheap. I've been buying it on Ebay and it's only about $8 Australian for 6 sticks.
