BMW E34 525i Turbo New Exhaust Sounds Sick!

Finally got around to buying and installing a new exhaust on my BMW E34 525i Turbo. Now it sounds so much better and has a lot more exhaust flow.

This is my BMW E34 1990model with a M50B25 engine, with a turbo intercooler setup! Running 0,5 bar of boost and makes around 300hp.

It sounds far quieter and less intrusive. For like an hour drive I actually prefer the old exhaust. It was a bit louder and it had that typical BMW straight 6 raspiness. That said it probably drones a lot more and this is quite unpleasant on long journeys. I had to drive for 3 hours once with a broken exhaust before the mid silencer. It was terrible, I had a massive headache after that. Also, the hot exhaust gases cooked the oil in my transmission and it broke as well. :D

Very nice. Sounds better! I have an E34 535i and I built a custom 3" exhaust. I have a vibrant performance resonator and thought it was too raspy also, so I added a magnaflow muffler in the rear and it seemed to balance it out and reduced the rasp. I have to make another exhaust video soon to compare before and after adding the muffler.

I have a semi short video I posted in December with some POV driving trying out my go pro. Will have a better video coming up in the next month or so after I finish painting my e28.

I would never put a 2,5” downpipe on m50 turbo, 3 inch is minimum. I can tell by the sound that old exhaust make that it was too small

It sounds tame. I would like something similar to this but have a exhaust cut out loud pipe so every time I hit boost, it comes out from a shorter straight pipe. So it's tame when I drive slow but once I gas it, the car wakes up and takes off.

I don't like used stuff, used to mess around with used car parts because I was poor, but in the end "if you do it cheap you'll do it twice" is very true saying, so there is more logic to doing it properly at first time. Also I would agree with you the new setup sound way better than before

listen i agree ive been strugglin my whole life with the dilemma of purchasing used vs new. usually you can get parts 50-70% less than msrp and sometimes you get shit sold to you sometimes you get almost brand new stuff it really depends on the luck but id still say ive saved 10-20k in car parts over the years that i would of just wasted for same result. now obviously i would never put anything used on my engine because thats the most important pat of the car everything else i dont really mind if its used or not as long as it works as intended

I built a dynomax exhuast system on my turbo e39. You can search dynomax turbo e39 and find it. (My Poor quality video) sounds amazing, 3.5" to the first resintor , 3" after that. Had a bad drone on the highway, i added a himeholtz j pipe for 3100 rpm... its great now.
