Hi, thank you for this video! I have a '97 BMW 523i with the exact same layout as you and this video really helped! Most difficult part was actually getting the stupid airbox off. But the rest was pretty easy. With the M52TU (technical "upgrade") they made things a lot harder. I decided to keep the trottlebody hoses in place, because there was enough room to get to the bolts. The bottom bolt i was able to get loose with a small wrench, coming from underneath. Also i connected the dipstick-tube to the CCV, before installing it. Because once the CCV is in place it's hard to put the oilpan tube in. The dipstick-tube was surprisingly easy to reach and i was able to put it on there.

I should have read your second last sentence before doing it :D. Struggled at least 10 minutes with putting the tube in after I already screwed the CCV in place. Did you put any clamps on the tube going from the CCV to the oilpan?

@@brunosel1 yeah a put a metal clamp thingy on the dipstick tube side. But it's not really necessary, i haven't seen anyone else do it.

Nice video, i have the same engine as you, my question is, i did a leak test on the intake with a smoke machine, and i notice 2 things, with the throttle body fully close there is a little leak in there, is that normal? Also, i saw that the ccv is getting air through the intake to the crank case(didnt see any smoke, but as the smoke machine build pressure i heard air comming through the oil cap), is that normal? Or so i have a problem in the ccv?

I wouldn't worry about a small leak if you're not getting code or drive ability issues.

I think although all the work involved this job is easier done removing the intake manifold, but that's just me...

You're right, just an option if someone doesn't feel like removing the manifold :)
