This is FANTASTIC! You are a genius. My 1999 328i was in the shop for 18mths while the shop located the electronic "modules" that controls the top. Sometimes they worked, sometimes they didn't. Finally found one that seemed dependable, but alas, no such luck. It seems to be heat sensitive and stops working when it's hot outside. I believe you're solution, very well explained in both videos, well solve this problem. Thank you.

Hey geezer, all your E36 vids I've watched so far are absolutely brilliant, including this one. I've been manually operating my roof since I broke one of the tonneau bars a few years ago. My electrics might still be okay once I sort out the tonneau, but if not, I will follow your instruction and go with the three switch operation. Superb tutorial!

Oh, for heaven's sake! My head hurts! I think a conversion to a mechanical latch is in order or use a drill. Will you have a video for replacing the top?
