I had to tap a chassis frame bolt thread out I found a ratcheting tap drive was super fast FYI the best lube I have ever found was Jet Lube 12/34 I use it on all my new and used tools to protect the grease and keep them from rusting has so many uses that it's crazy I know of ppl that use it as gun lube on 90 year old rifles WD is ok 12/34 is on another lvl spray it in a parts bag so they part dont get surface rust even after years!! it will be in prefect shape

Just a thought, As an 68 yr. old Nitrous guy X street racer from the 80-to90's. Look at the piston crowns and exhaust ports of his engine. Looks like too much fuel and way too much timing taken out but what do I know. Love that the guy is a working Tech. Some great content.

Running 750whp on 10mm studs for 3 years. Get a athena coopering gasket and retorque the bolts after some time
@06general0665 жыл бұрын
Yup. Probably too much ignition timing or something. I don’t have these problems even with mls. Cutring should give no trouble for sure.
@theXbaT15 жыл бұрын
@@06general066 He also should have resurfaced the block, not just the head. Its like a good roule to resurface top and block when you blow a headgasket.
@Jakedelus5 жыл бұрын
I dont understand this what Alberto is doing. Why try to cover real problem In engine or tuning. 10mm studs/bolts works just fine in 900hp engines if tuning is right+Cooper ring and both surfaces is done. Im sure that he blow gasket again sooon with those 11mm studs if tuning is Same.

@@Jakedelus Yeah It may blow when he start to turn it up again. I do not understand why he does not do it the right way the first time...

I was hoping someone would bring this up. I'm building myself an m52 with m50 iron block, planning on 500-600bhp and of course I've done a shit ton of reading. If there was a real and known problem with headlift at these power levels, I would know for sure. I mean these motors in stock form hold almost 500hp with just a spacer and mls for a lot of people.

@coryunferferth17675 жыл бұрын
The threads peaks and valleys on the stud were way undersized compared to the threads in the block. When they get torqued down those threads are going to be incredibly weak.

Maybe just time to get a S54 for the E36? Keep hearing people say it's "as 2JZ as you can go and it still be a BMW engine", though I'm still in the M88-camp myself
@johannesleek61605 жыл бұрын
Mainfold the bmw n54 is like the modern 2jz tho, but i agree the s54 is an amazing engine with lot of potential
@Doogleraia5 жыл бұрын
I'd argue it's not REALLY, simply for the different deck designs, where the S54 deck and generally the rest of the block is more similar in design-philosophy than the N54, but the N54 has it's uses (but folks have to get the open-deck plugging done for the big-big power).
@johannesleek61605 жыл бұрын
What i meant was that if u compare a n54 n a 2jz they can push almost the same without being built. The s54 couldnt handle that, it is a good engine yes but if its not built it will not handle the hp. If u were to compare the s54 n 2jz stock, they are very similar.
@Doogleraia5 жыл бұрын
You're not gonna be pushing 2k+ hp on a N54 like a 2JZ, even the S55 people are mostly going in the mid-high 800's hp, whereas the S54 has been perfectly able to push north of 1000hp for years and years (after all it's been around for longer, more track-record and time to be a proven platform with more available mods etc). S38B38 is still the beastmode engine from BMW though.
@johannesleek61605 жыл бұрын
Mainfold i feel like we aint on the same lvl lol... i said stock not built. If u have a stock s54 nothing done to it -nothing- it wouldnt be able to push as much as a n54 or 2jz thats my point. The 2jz and n54 have turbo original and are overbuilt from factory. The s54 is na and therefor would need to be BUILT to get the same amount of horse. Idk the name but i really like the turbo 6 that is in the e23745 (or 735 i dont remember)
@mx4eva415 жыл бұрын

@saltfarmer39105 жыл бұрын
It is also risky doing 11mm studs. The hole is prone to cracking the block. It has been shown that the standard studs at 85lbs with a cut ring gasket is the most robust solution
@frontspring15 жыл бұрын
Well the s54 block has 11mm studs and haven't heard of any cracking.the 2j also sports 11mm studs.
@saltfarmer39105 жыл бұрын
Grab America by the Flaps the s54 was designed for those studs, the oil drainage holes are moved out specifically to be further from the 11mm bolts/studs. On the m50/52 they are very close to the studs. I personally know someone who has had that issue even after chamfering the hole. I also know dozens of people running close to or over 1000hp with 10mm ARPs and a cut ring gasket. Including the first manual e36 to do an 8 second pass.
