This help me for a 98 318ti although the wiring was differently setup but there were 4 wires connected to the starter which was annoying getting out 😅

Need a little help, just done the headgasket on my car (1999 E46 318i M43 4cyl, 8v engine) and now can't find where one of the loom plug goes. It is wired into the same part of the loom as the starter motor wires, but it's a push fit connector, identifiable with a single brown wire. All the rest of the plugs have at least 2 wires, this one just has one (it looks like a dual plug though, just one wire/pin). Any ideas on where this might go, I've searched everywhere within reach!!

ok i found where those two go, the connector with the single brown wire goes on the back of the oil filter housing. however, that meant i had put the wrong connector on that one, so now instead of the brown wire, i have one remaining connector with blue/red and red/white wires coming out the back. It's the same length wire as the brown, so has to go in the same area ish, but after hours searching from angles, i just cannot find it. Any ideas? The wiring diagrams dont seem to help :(

Hello!, Your videos have been a great help while working on my M43, thing is, i know it's the same engine as yours, but my wiring is completely different, it's an M43B18 and the car is imported from japan if that makes any difference. I'm at a loss, i can't get the lower intake manifold out because of the wiring harness being completely different and some cables are not reachable in the slightest.

@@richardcarreon3035 honestly, i never saw the m44 engine, it's a rare item in my country. However, at a glance if i saw the engine from google, the intake manifold construction is same with M43. So, i think you don't need to remove the lower intake to remove the crank shaft sensor connector. CMIIW

There is one more wire running from the box sort of inside the lower intake manifold in mine, 316i m43 I believe its a ground thats bolted to the transmission, did you have that one or is that only the 1.6's? I just want to be sure!

@@chayawichjeerasthanakul9344 sorry for my first answer, i think you want to remove the temperature sensor connector. Actually, i ever remove the sensor once when overhaul. So, the lower intake was removed. In my opinion, you can try to remove the sensor without remove the lower intake, but you must find the right position of the wrench.

Kalau memang sulit lewat lubang sisi rumah filter oli atau dr belakang sisi pipa dipstick oli, menurut sy cukup melepas intake atas dan tidak sampai harus melepas intake bawah

Om setelah ku cek ternyata connector disa lepas. Malah ku cari connectornya ga ketemu. Telusuri kabel utama yg dgabung dengan cps, ckp, icv, tps dll. Nemu 2 kabel yg putus digit tikus. Kabel kecil warna coklat kuning dan hitam hijau om, tpi belum ketemu pasangan putusnya dmana. Apakah karena disa tidak connect ya om makanya mesin tidak mau hidup.?

Setelah cek forum tetangga. Trnyata ga ngaruh ya om klo conector disa ga terpasang. Infonya mesin tetap nyala jika connector tidak terpasang.

Saya lg bongkar lower manifold, blm selesai urusan lepas kabel dan sensor. 1.saya tdk melihat bgmn cara teknik melepas temp sensor. 2.saya tdk melihat pelepasan kabel bendik stater, kalo sy lihat kalo ga dilepas, manifold ga bs dilepas... 1. Tekniknya memang tidak bisa kelihatan om, karena sudut pengambilan gambar, waktu itu tidak memungkinkan. Temperatur switch memiliki 2 pengunci di masing2 sisinya. dicongkel pelan2 di masing2 penguncinya. 2. Untuk kabel starter motor memang tidak sy perlihatkan. Omnya tinggal lepas kabel dr starter motornya. Jangan lupa, kabel aki dilepas dulu

@@zenfatkho8282 dari semua proses diy sy di e36, ketika lepas kabel negatif aki tidak ada masalah. Tp kalo om nya tidak yakin, jangan ditiru om. Karena sy tidak bertanggung jawab jg kalo terjadi sesuatu. Kalo kabel negatif aki tidak dilepas, saran sy hati2 ketika melepas kabel2 di alternator

Adduuhhh.... Pertanyaannya berat banget ini om, karena gak tau seperti apa kondisinya. Sharing pengalaman sj, dulu ketika crank case vent (CCV) m43 sy (atau ada yg nyebut separator oli atau valve gepeng) rusak itu ada bunyi "nging" ketika mesin dinyalakan. Om nya coba cek CCV dulu, siapa tau memang dr situ. Mohon dimaafkan kalo perkiraannya salah

@@MetalArrow honestly, if you don't ask me about the coolant engine block drain plug, i never know about it. After i do an inspection, i found a 13 mm bolt and i think that is the coolant engine block drain. The position of the bolt is on the right side of the block, behind exhaust pipe, close to the rear edge of the engine block

and also, shouldt there be a rubber gasket betwen theengine and the mainfold it self? cant see it in the video, also, i cant find the part here where i live, do you think its totaly necessary to replace it or can i reuse it? i would never reuse an oil gasket but since this is air and made from rubber... hope to get ur imput on this Thanks ;)

Hi too @@davidmartins9026 1. At a glance, if i compare the intake manifold system between e36m43 with e46m43 in bmwfans.info, i think there is no big difference. 2. In e36m43, there is a gasket (the material is not made from rubber) between lower intake with engine block. You can see in this video in minutes 18:06, the gasket stick with the manifold. Actually the gasket separate from the intake. In my point of view about replace or reuse it, if the gasket has been used for a long-term, i will change it.

i open it today. There is one on between the upper and lower intake (in the flange or whatver its called) but the one i was asking about is the one beween the engine block and the lower intake (there are 4 rubber gaskets in the chape of the hole of the intake/engine block.
