yo ihave same e39 525D 2001 i have the similar problem i change one fuel pump under driver side and it was fine until today when i started the car and had issue that after 10 seconds just went dead and wont start again, so i assume that is a relay or pump under backseat

For all the people who have this problem, I have found a solution: the tank must be cleaned, new fuel and a new pump in the floor and a new oil filter

@@buraktozkoporan8319 In my case It was a loose nut and loose wires of the positive terminal of the jump start under the hood. Remove the plastics around positive terminal, tighten the nut with wires in place. That's it. Worth checking, easy fix, no money needed. Might be your case too.

Hello friends, I was tired of my BMW 39. It stopped suddenly. I replaced the main high-pressure pump, replaced the external and rear pump actuation, replaced the fuel sensor and the governor sensor, and the engine still does not start. It runs well, the battery is strong, the diesel comes out of the governor strongly, the injectors are clean, the diesel filter is new, and the oil filter is new, but The car does not start, the sprayer just turns on and off. Note that my car has a fully electric motor and there is a code attached to the key that is programmed to start. I am afraid that the code has been lost. Please help. Thank you. I am in Syria.

Also check the relays under the dashboard and you must bear in mind that if it is tried many times to start, they must be aligned and the EWS with DME will not start otherwise.

How do you know the relay it's faulty?

If you measure the input voltage of the fuel pump and it is "0", it means that the defect is somewhere else, the safety is good. Only the relay remains as defective. You can do an easy check by replacing the relays between them, if it starts for sure it is defective.
