BMW E39 M5 Circuitdays Track Day Nurburgring 23 04 2019

Warmup lap with the BMW E39 M5 track car from the circuit days track day at the legendary Nurburgring on 23rd April 2019.
After completing 4 months of hard work to turn the M5 in to a dedicated track car, we start the day by testing it. Ensuring that everything is up to scratch and fine tuning the suspension after each session.
The lap starts at the entrance to Döttinger Höhe where we run up to speed in 6th gear and sit at 145mph for the flying run to check top speed stability. (Top speed as such due to 3.85:1 diff ratio being installed).
We then continue the lap at a sedate pace to ensure everything is up to scratch.

Cheers - We should of been there this year for the BTG/CD double headder track day on April 8/9th, but with everywhere going in to lockdown due to Covid-19, this hasn't happened. We're hoping to be ther ein october for the CD track day on the 12th!

Taking it steady as it was the first flying lap of the day after sighting and getting to know the car again after all the work that’s been done - This was the first track day after stripping and rebuilding the car as a dedicated track toy. There’ll be a video coming soon with info about the track car build.

@@WestinghouseProductions cool. How did you find the trackday traffic wise? That lap seemed ok. Im asking as ive been over on TF a couple of times and not too confident, and def not fast, when its hectic on TF and im always keeping out the way. Was that lap typical of how the traffic was? Cheers.

Track days are much more relaxed. There were around 160 cars booked on, but the open pit lane format meant it was very quiet out there. Only 2 closures, and one of them was the end of day closure! It’s worth doing a track day instead of rushing laps on TF.

Pushing the car to its limit means there's a higher risk of crashing it. Nobody in their right mind is gonna do that with an E39 M5 these days. I am happy to see one on the track nonetheless, because I'm never taking mine to Nordschleife.

Hi. Have you done anything to the break? I always feel that the break pedal in my m5 is too soft. It's a joy daily, but I'm not sure how it will do on track.

Good for you - I begrudge no-one who wants to go quicker, but as the description says, warming up and testing after building the car.
