BMW E39 M5 GS7D36SG Getrag DCT Gearbox Converted - Donington Park Track Day 9th December 2020 - HD

We're at Donington Park race track in the UK on a wet, but pleasant December in covid ridden 2020!
We're out for a full day testing the DCT converted M5 and the results are in - Great success! A few little bits of firmware and software could be improved, but mechanically it didn't fall out, the carbon propshaft didn't snap, the flywheel didn't take off out the side of the gearbox like a buzz-saw and the engine didn't die!
140 miles of track fun in total, 90 litres of petrol burnt and the usual consumables consumed!

Great video! It was a bit slippy first thing, I nearly went off at Mcleans like you did, just managed to catch it. Got a bit frustrating in the afternoon though with all the red flags, it was 2 laps then red flag, then rinse and repeat.

Was mega slippy on the sighting laps, after those I swapped out to the wets and had an absolute blast. After going in to check the car over after spinning at Mcleans, one of the marshals accused me of ignoring black flags and said that’s my day over. A bit pissed off about that as the only black flag I saw was directed to the silver Clio 182 behind me (2 laps before the spin). Was a good day overall though when you take away the red and yellow flags on the afternoon sessions.

@@WestinghouseProductions whoever was driving that Silver Clio was nuts, I put my left indicator on way before the esses to indicate I was going to be putting. He nearly crashed into me from behind as I was near to entering the pits, then proceeded to beep his horn at me! It was the fourth track day I’ve done at Donington this year. Some of the driving was dangerous this week, I think it was because a lot we there to test for the 750 event this weekend, and the Caterhams as usual were a law unto themselves.

@@skippy14712 The caterham boys are rolling road blocks. I followed one for a few laps and he stubbornly refused to move over - to the point it was like a procession behind. The marshalling wasn’t great for things like that as not one blue flag was displayed.

I watched the whole video. If the gears are un altered, then what is the theoretical top speed of this combination? and wich wheel/tire size? And how many kilowatts and newtonmeters do you have there driving it? Thank you.

It’s the hard ignition cut for the upshift that makes it seem hard, that’ll be changed soon with the throttle cut being made on the PPS instead of coil set.
