We head back to the Nurburgring after some sort of globcal pandemic ruined everyones plans and ideas.
The E39 M5 track car with a Getrag GS7D36SG Dual Clutch Gearbox (DCT) performed exceptionally well and exceeded expectations. This doesn't mean I'm happy with the GCU - Far from it, but the fact remains that it didn't cause me to break out a crowbar and beat it to a mangled mess means it works still.
Would I buy this particular gearbox controller product again? Nope.
Would I recommend it? Nope.
Am I happy with this product? Not in the slightest - Especially as the spokesman of the company blames customers when questions are asked about the failure of firmware and multiple other issues.
What I would say is wait for Maxxecu Fxx series DCT support to be available.
The TDO was Circuitdays and it was ran exceptionally well. Weather started out with thick fog and very low temperatures, but sighting laps commenced just over 2 hours late at 11am with a very wet track. This was no issue for the Michellin Pilot Sport P2G tyres which made the tricky driving conditions a delight to enjoy. Once the track started to dry out, the Westlake Sport RS equipped wheels were fitted and some progressively faster laps ensured.
The aero modifications worked superb with the car sticking to the track and holding lines well. The only downside was the drag created from the rear wing caused a terminal velocity of approximately 150mph down Döttinger Höhe.
