Good advice to power up just with power supply first. Sounds like you may be speaking from experience of blowing up the simulator! I made that mistake once while working on another circuit board

We never blew up the simulator, because we understand how electronics works and it make sense to test electronics with minimal loss, if you simply follow safety instructions. But I hope this is going to be good example for those who try to test electronics for the first time :)

I sent you guys an email because I’m having this exact same problem in my 02’ 325i. Was doing a repair on the window regulator where I had to disconnect the negative terminal on the battery, once done and reconnected, my cluster gauge is dead and only shows the airbag light, tried all fuse tricks, unplugging the batter again, no luck.

Question. My cluster is gone, 2003 325i. I found a 2003 325xi cluster that works, just have yellow brake light and traction on. Just wanted to double check if 325xi is compatible? Also, what do I have to do to code cluster?

I am having problem with X3 instrument cluster. Only speedometer works, rest of the gauge don't move at all. However, when I run system test, all gauge needles and lights work. Do you think the cluster is still good? Please let me know. Thanks!

heloo, i got a problem with my car (E46). cluster reads/shows +50C all the time (no matter how many ambient sensors i'v tried), then i swapped the cluster and surprisingly it worked just fine (showed correct Temp). please give any ideas / solutions Regards

I have a 98 z3 and the gas gauge and thermostat don’t fully function. Both move a small amount when the ignition is powered up. The fuel light stays on as it’s on empty. All lights work including the tach work fine. The mileage indicator is bright but when you turn the light switch on it goes away. There was a short in the engine compartment but all 4 wires were repaired. The went to the dmu. I’ve checked for other shorts but can’t find any. I put another cluster from a 318i on and the gas and temp gauges worked but it wouldn’t work because it has mpg gauge when mine didn’t and the buzzer is always going off. It’s. It the right one for this z3. Also I can’t test my cluster since it won’t cycle through the prompts. Any suggestions. Should I purchase another one from another z3 or send this to you to fix mine? Please advise and what would it cost for you to dial it back in???

Hm, usually when running a test all lights should come on.
