Hi,
Welcome to my channel Mint Motor Garage. This is the first upgrade and modification to the E46 project. I have taken off all the front end panels to install the facelift E46 front end and installed a E46 M3 front bumper. This is one of many upgrades and modifications I plan to do so stay tuned for future video's.

Hi Joonas, I hope you are well today? Yes I agree both E46 face-lift and non face-lift are amazing looking, if you look at my newer videos I have fitted a wide arch kit that you don't see a lot of on the face-lift cars so I facelifted it to be a little different.

100 percent what this guy said. pre-facelift headlights look much closer to m3 lights anyway and I prefer them, especially on the coupes.

Sorry for the late reply, yes that look you have mentioned is a very nice look but I am not trying to make my car look like an M3 replica, if you watch some of my newer videos you will see I have fitted a wide arch kit that is for the face-lift headlights and I have smoothed the M3 bumper. I will be uploading more videos very soon so hopefully you will like the finished look when it all comes together.

Hi Jonathon, I think the only differencr to the hood is the grill on the facelift bonnets. They are bigger to make the facelift more modern looking. The pre-facelift has smaller grills but I think other then that they are the same. You will need new wings or fenders on the front, headlights and the plastic pieces that go under the headlights. Also the bracket to fit them as that is different 👍 I hope this helps mate?

if you wanted to do facelift converted to non facelift, you'll only have to worry about the plastic brakets that hold the non facelift headlights, and changing out the fenders to allow for non facelift headlights to fit along with the under eye covers. but the hood will be fine if you keep the facelift hood on while converting ( imo i love the grills to the facelift hood. but despise the facelift eyes, looks like a girl with eye wing makeup) would the side indicators be a worry going from positioned up high to being dropped down lower for the non-facelift fenders? think id also have to cut and extend the wires but thats no biggie if they are too short.

Hi, I hope you are well today? Yes if you wanted to go from a face-lift to non face-lift you need to change the brackets that hold the lights underneath, the headlights and plastic section at the bottom front lense. Wings 100% need changing, I have never used the different bonnets so I don't know it they would line up but the grills are bigger on the face-lift bonnets. I like girls with eye make up 😁👍 lol if you see my newer videos I have fitted a wide body kit that is for the face-lift. I think you will be fine with the wire length but I think you will need to replace the indicator to the non face-lift.

What about the headlight connectors from COUPE facelift to non-facelift? Will they all plug back up? Cause my headlights are the one piece bi-xenons, I'm not sure if that would affect anything. That's the only thing stopping me from doing the swap.

Hi, it should be fine to do that as the non-xeon and xeon lights are they same connection they just have a high voltage adapter for the bulb so make sure you disconnect the battery before doing anything. You can get adapter on the Internet so you can take off the xeon bulbs for normal bulbs and visa-versa. I purchased an E46 once that had one xeon light and the other wasn't so I know any lights and bulbs can work.

Since the installed the crash bar onto the car first, how did you secure the bumper cover to the crash bar??

Hi Darko Z, the aftermarket bumper is made in a way that to crash bar does not secure onto it like the original bumper does. So I installed the crash bar onto the car and placed the bumper over it as the crash bar does fit inside the shape of the bumper still and then secured the bumper to the car with all the screw, nut, bolts etc at the top, bottom and sides of the bumper so it is very secure still. Hi sorry for the late reply. Yes the bumper will fit back on the car without the crash bar behind as you can bolt the bumper in from the sides, top and bottom but would not recommend driving without a crash bar to be honest as the crash bar helps with crash impact and protects you more. So no having it in is unsafe. Your choice but keep yourself safe. 👍

For the front bumper. Did the bumper stay on with only the side clips!!!?

Hi, I also reused the screw that go along the bottom of the bumper and the 2 screw at the top of the bumper that are between the headlights so the bumper is very secure. The only 2 bolts I did not use are the 2 that connect the bumper to the crash bar behind but the crash bar is still there and safe. If you are asking if the bumper can stay in with just the 2 side clips, I wouldn't recommend it. I would screw the ones I have mentioned in as well.

Nice project man,I got a 2001 e46 323ci and I just bought a m3 bumper just like yours.how did you install the slambar on the bumper?

Hi mate, if it isn't a genuine M3 front bumper like mine you won't be able to attach the slambar to it. You will need to fit the slambar to the car first after you have taken it off the original bumper and then fit the M3 bumper on the car so the bumper slides over the top of the slambar 👍 then attach the front bumper in the normal places near the arches and under the bumper. @@MintMotorGarage thank you for the fast answer:) i will experiment in the garage this weekend.my slam bar i kinda crooked so i will try to fix it.but im looking for a slambar thats straight.Do you know if a sedan/wagon slambar fits on a coupe prefacelift with some small modifications?

@@elias5669 if you can sort out your original slambar that would be best. I think a slambar from any E46 will more then likely fit. If you watch my video of me fitting the M3 rear bumper you will see it is a genuine M3 bumper and the M3 has a different design on the slambar but my original one still fit when I removed the foam from the bumper. I bought a m bumper for my 04 330ci and it doesn’t have any clip on it to slide the bracket in. What do you recommend?

Hi, I hope you are well today? Oh no if it has not got the section on the inside of the bumper to slid the bracket on to attach to the wing the only thing I can think of is maybe use quick release bonnet pins. You can get small round ones and they can be painted. You will just have a quick release button on the bumper if you don't mind that. If you want it to be completely flush then maybe you could use plastic weld to glue a bracket to the back or tiger seal and screw that to the bracket at the bottom of the wing where it attaches to the bumper? I hope this helps.

I don't get it why convert it to Facelift and put a M3 bumper on it the M3 wasn't a facelift. It would look way better the way it was before with the M3 bumper on it. IMO

This build is for a fee reasons, it is cheaper to do a face-lift to an E46 then buying the face-lift plus I don't want the car to look like an M3 replica, if you look at my newer videos you will see I have fitted a wide arch kit that is for the face-lift version and I have smoothed the M3 bumper. I am just trying to make the car look unique and to what I like and hopefully others will like. I do also own a standard E46 as it is a beautiful car.

I havn't got the link but I got the bumper from Ebay. There are loads on Ebay very cheap and a good fit for a non M3 model 👍
