E46 crank no start... no diagnostic codes once the rear seat was removed you couldn't hear the fuel pump running at all so I did some basic checks to ensure it wasn't a wiring or command issue with the car itself.

Hello, great video, my car is doing the same, i started by replacing coils and sparkplugs, nothong changed, then i just replaced the fuel pump, and still does the same, any suggestions would be kindly appreciated. Thank you and have a great day.

Nesto P. Thanks man and hmm can you scan codes on it? Sounds like it might be a crank sensor but there are also a few other things that will make these cars not start there is a small “hidden” fuse box in the ecu case make sure you check all those fuses too.
@nestop.98925 жыл бұрын
@@MattDoesStuff17 thank you sir, i did check that fuse box under the hood, all fuses looked good, i did manage to scan it, it came back with 12 codes, and when i looked them up most of them mentioned the camshaft position sensor, there are 2 of them, intake and exhaust. I also learned about that hard to reach crankshaft sensor, should i start with the crank sensor or the camshaft sensors? Also is it possible for the fuel pump relay to be cause? I can hear the fuel pump priming. In other words if the relay is bad should i be able to hear the pump priming? I apologize if this is too much, thank you for your response, i really appreciate it.

Nesto P. Hey no problem man glad to help. If you hear the fuel pump priming chances are that the relay is good I wouldn’t focus on that. I would definitely take a closer look at the camshaft and crankshaft sensors... pelican parts has a pretty good article on testing camshaft sensors www.pelicanparts.com/BMW/techarticles/BMW-3-Series-E46/106-FUEL-Camshaft_Sensor_Testing/106-FUEL-Camshaft_Sensor_Testing.htm Test those first cause they are easy to get to but normally a no start will be a crank sensor and a rough running will be camshaft. Lemme know how it goes or if you have any more questions. Good luck

Try changing the fuel pump relay

Thanks for the video man, Did the fuel pump solve the issue? Or was it the fuel pump which is below the car?
@MattDoesStuff177 жыл бұрын
Dylan Harte no problem man. The fuel pump did solve the issue. Not sure what you mean by fuel pump below the car. There is a fuel pressure regulator underneath on the driver side included in the fuel filter. I'll try to make a video on how to test that in the future. However my fuel pump wasn't turning on at all. If you suspect yours might be a blockage in the system and that the fuel pump is working you could do pressure tests in front of the filter then behind it then at the pump itself to isolate where your problem is.

I have random cranks with no start, so I wait a second take out the key and reinsert and then it'll start. Is this a sign of the fuel pump going out or something else like the starter going out or crankshaft sensor?

Tony S. Did you find out what the problem was? I’m having the same issue
@MattDoesStuff176 жыл бұрын
Tony S. My guess would probably be a fuel pump but really no way to know without testing the fuel pressure... if it is cranking I wouldn’t suspect a starter. Are you getting any check engine lights that would help indicate a sensor problem?

can you tell me what was the problem? I'm confronted with something like an e60

Thanks for the video dealing with the same issue crank no start on a 2011 328i , I was thinking it was a fuel pump but I went and sprayed starter fluid into the throttle body and still won’t start could it still be the fuel pump? Thanks in advance

Have the same issues but the fuel pump dosent start at all

Hello. Thanks for the video ! I have bmw e46 320d 150hp reg.2002 . My car will crank but not start, not even from warm engine , only bump start in second gear, and everything works fine, pull right , no smoke. I can hear the fuel pump everytime I put ignition on. No error light in dash I check : Battery , Alternator , fuses inside car and those from engine in black box) , relays , Fuel pump under back seat is getting power ...I try with both keys *but I think if bump start is not immobilizer... Any suggestion is wellcome . Thank you again !

Sounds like maybe the starter solenoid is not popping the gear out engage the flywheel if you can bump start it. Or, you have a crankshaft position sensor not reading the flywheel turning. Let us know if you fixed it.

What is it that you were saying about the crankshaft sensor on the dash? Could you elaborate on it? It would be super appreciated.
@MattDoesStuff175 жыл бұрын
Hey so normally if you can see the rpm’s on the tach raise when you crank it over it means that it’s getting a crankshaft position signal.
@SRMHIPHOP5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the reply. So this did turn out to be the pump?

Yea this one was the pump. What’s going on with yours?

I have a e83 3.0l m54 engine has the head gasket replaced engine turned over on the first crank once the fluids were changed stayed on for about 30 mins turned on and off twice then all of a sudden it died the battery seemed to be charged up but also wouldn’t start it then was jumped with cables and now has the issue yours had in the vid it displays the same rpm jump when first trying to crank and sounds the same theirs also zero fuel in the rails can it be he pump?
