If it makes you feel any better it wasn’t very liked. It was an afterthought as they only planned to use the SMG. It was pulled directly from the E39 M5. The gearing wasn’t right for that engine. Had a manual been produced for that engine specifically I can’t even imagine how good it would’ve been. Still though, if I ever find myself buying an E60 M5, I’ll be sure to search for the manual.

Flossy Carter at least on the e46 the SMG is really raw. It's like a manual except it shifts faster(and it's way more fun) Don't knock em until ya try em. Afaik the m5 SMG is slower than the e46 because they tried to make it smoother They're way harder to get used to than a manual and they definitely aren't as smooth, but when you learn how to drive one you'll never go back. I bought my m3 thinking I'd manual swap it but I won't because of how good the smgII is

Sounds fantastic, a bit too loud for me but I'm 56. What I like about my 08 M5 is with the windows up its pretty quiet except the intake sound which sounds great, but with the windows down even the stock exhaust sounds great, with the over run and pops etc. I will be doing a full Dinan upgrade so whatever they recommend for the mid pipe I will go with for a not too loud system. Great job on this video.
