Love your videos! Very informative!! I have been purchasing BMW’s for the past 10 years. I love them an it is very hard to go back to any other car! Just had my first 2006 BMW M5 this week and had delivered today! I already have an appointment to do the rod bearings for a peace of mind! Much more work to come in the next few months. Keep up the great work!!

Will most definitely check the brake lines once I get it on a lift when my rod bearings get changed which should be around the 18th is so of this month. I really plan on keeping this car for a long time. Eventually almost everything will be redone just to make sure longevity.

@@NoFAmeProductionsLLC That's good, should last, the lines are usually part of the mot checks, if you follow the rear lines from the hoses they meet at the left rear side, that's usually where they rust, bit of a pain to change Mines nearly 149k and last year the alternator went bad... Struggling to think what else really because the cars are solid, just a bad reputation

I changed mine today inspired by you! (previously I got it replaced by car service) Changed after 5.000km. Before changing oil I had 1.1l reading. I left it open for 1.5h (at the end there were no drops for a long time). I put 9.0l and got reading 1.0l after 35km driven. Every single time since this (when got it done in service) I always got 1.5l reading (they put 8.5l) which was dropping down to 1.3 after 30-50km. I wonder why this time it was different. Possibly car service guys never waited long enough? But you also got 1.5l reading right after changing it and I guess you let it go for a long time too. Anyway - very satisfying, thank you!

Thanks for sharing Pablo, the most patience I’ve had in the past is about a 10 min wait lol. I’m sure is would make a bit of a difference, but in this video I refilled the same amount I drained, so who knows 🤷🏻‍♂️

I've had my 2009 E64 M6 (current ODO: 128.000km) for the past 8 years and 105K km, and it gets an oil-change every 10K km, or every spring. I drive it only from Apr.-Oct., and do usually about 8-9K km/year with it. Had a big preventative maintenance (incl. rod-bearings, ign.coils, fuel pump, injectors, etc.) around 100K km. I also send in an oil sample for analysis every time, no issue whatsoever until now. Great videos btw., keep it up! cheers from Munich.

Amazing, I did mine today 👌 I know it's coming up the the service so I usually let the oil level drop down to around 0.2 before I drain it... I lower the jack to drain and fill

Nice, good timing! I normally change it once in summer (now) and once in winter, regardless. If I Jack up the rear too so the car is level it’ll normally drain more oil out

I usually do my oil every 5000km or in the spring before I start driving it for the year. Which ever comes first. I only put 2000 on it last year. So it will get one when the ice breaks. I also have the oil tested every change. The first year I had it there was some moisture detected in the sample. but haven't had any since.

Thanks for sharing Kelly- good plan! You ever get a tracing of copper particles identified on your oil sample reports?
@spunbearing
@spunbearing Жыл бұрын
@@MTechGuy yes, it is sitting at 5 parts per million right now. I'm also getting some titanium in the samples, but I think that is from the 10/60 lquimoly I'm using. The next sample I turn in will be sent with a control sample of unused oil so they can determine if it was just an additive in the oil.

My oil level reading seems to have usually correct/same on both short and long term reading. I have usually done the method of measuring what came out on the oil pan with my other cars as well. It kinda saves me guessing how much I need to put in back. I do still measure by dip stick or this this i-drive after, but usually its about right. The oil reading do go down a lot after driving the car in the high rev range…. Maybe you just have a heavy foot and burn a liter of oil after driving 😂

i think it uses an optical sensor to measure the oil level , maybe it takes some time to adapt to fresh oil as it is clear vs dark dirty oil ?
@ArnestoGTI
@ArnestoGTI Жыл бұрын
Because it showed you that you were on max it doesn’t mean that you were EXACTLY on that level. It’s not a dipstick. You could be 0.3,4,5L below that and it will still show you that more or less. That’s with every electronic oil measurements not just the BMW’s. So you must have had 8.(?) Liters in. It’s nothing to worry about…
@MTechGuy
@MTechGuy Жыл бұрын
Capacity is approx. 9.3L (1.0 reading) I drained 9.1 litres (from 0.9 reading) so the long term reading is “close” +/-, but the short term reading is fairly abstract

Exact same. Oil minimum twice a year. Filters every 12 mths. And I don’t do many miles in it. I’d rather spend a hundred £ or so and have peace of mind than be sitting counting the cost later and wishing I’d changed it earlier …..😂

My son says I don't need it but I was concerned they'd be stuck or difficult to pull off. Inexpensive tool Oh and I need to do the brake vacuum pump relay. I think mine is bad, as on a cold start I get a reduced power code. If I pump the brake during warmup, I do not get the code. If I stop pumping, it throws the code.27B7

Nice! How did you get on, did you have to use the puller in the end? That brake vac pump relay is a pain to get to, check the fuse first, then check for power at the pump connect while operating the brake pedal, that’ll identify if it’s the relay or pump itself
