Thank you for taking the time to go through this process in detail. You've made it so much easier to understand what tools were needed and how to best approach this job. Your effort to include details as far as naming the torque specs for most bolts and nuts is very much appreciated👍🏼 Can't thank you enough.

Thanks mate! I really appreciate your support! I would say the hardest part of the whole job is removing the bottom part of the front shocks if they had been clamped in there for a long time, a long scaffolding bar makes it very easy to pry it out, apart from that is a pretty straightforward job! I wish you all the best! 🤜🏼🤛🏼

Good Job. I may pick up a set of these for my E60. You should always use some anti seize on the threads of the coilovers. This will make it easier to take back apart and wont rust as easy. They also make neoprene boots that cover the coilover to keep all the dirt of them .
@evosgarage3 жыл бұрын
Yeah you're right! I did use anti seize a few days after when I was actually setting up the height on all 4 corners. I had to let the springs settle a bit so I could get the height dialled in. I made coilover boots for my GS300 and every time I remove them to lubricate my coilovers they just look brand new!

Great video bro will really be helpful when I get a set of coil overs for my 530 especially with all the torque ratings 👍 You’re brave doing all this without axel stands - especially relying on a scissor jack for the rears 😂 knowing my luck if I did that it will end up falling over

Thanks for watching bro! Glad to help! 😂 I just lifted the car with the oem jack because it's a lot easier to use the other hydraulic jack to load the suspension before torquing the bolts, when I wasn't using it I had it resting under the car too. You're right, I should have used axel stands👍 I was a bit more relaxed about not using them in this situation because I had no reason to be under the car otherwise It would be one of the first things!👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼

would it be possible to put front and rear shock absorbers from another car on the bmw e60? What car could it work from?
@evosgarage Жыл бұрын
Hi! I'm not sure if the e60 has any compatibility with another bmw models but anything is possible and can be done if people want to invest in it. Coilovers are very similar is design but the mounting points are usually different, if you get some coilovers that have the correct dimensions for your application you can get a shop to modify the mounting points to match the ones in your car. This is often done in older vehicles, where coilovers are either not readily available, or very expensive due to the car's weird suspension design or maybe just because there's just not many companies building parts for those vehicles. Hope this helps you somehow👍🏻

Hi I forgot to ask when setting up the damping which way you turn for soft and stiffer
@evosgarage3 жыл бұрын
Hi! I believe they' have 24-way damping adjustment. If you rotate the adjustment knob on the top all the way to the left you have position 1, the softest, rotating to the right, 24 clicks later you should find the stiffest damping option. Hope this helps you!

So if I want 50mm set up all round what measurement should I measure on threads to save me having to put wheel on and off
@evosgarage3 жыл бұрын
@@dannyjackjones9843 it's not going to be an exact science because the car has a different weight on every corner. For example in the front, the side the engine leans to is heavier than the opposite side and in the back one side is heavier than the other because of the fuel tank so you can do like me and start with the 8.5cm on every corner, get the car on the floor and measure from the edge of the wheel to the edge of the fender and then do the adjustments needed on the coilover. If it helps I've noticed that 10mm of adjustment on the coilover translates to a 6mm difference in the actual ride height.
