Great video. I think I may have a bad JBE as well (2012 X5). I had bad struts so I let my car sit outside for a few months without driving. When I opened the door, apparently there was a leak and the interior was covered in mold. The instrument cluster was dead so I bought a used one and that problem is fixed but now I have errors that the transmission has a problem as well as the parking brake and the front wipers run all the time. I replaced the front wiper relay but it didn't help. I think its likely this module is bad. I have ISTA on a laptop so I hope to be able to replace the module and reprogram it for my car.

It does sound like the Junction Box. I also had intermittent 4 wheel drive system fault and park brake malfunction error pop up. I noticed that it would show up only after hard right turns and I had to stop, park brake on, shut off engine then restart and take park brake off and all errors go away. In the end I had to reset the wheel angle sensor and that fixed it. Hope you get it fixed and thanks for watching.

@@mr_fixit Turned out to be my own mistake. While troubleshooting the instrument cluster, I pulled out all the fuses from the junction box one by one, tested and reseated them. Apparently I left the DSC fuse out. 🙄 Put a new one in and all my electrical problems went away. Of course, this being a BMW, shortly after that I drove it and within 10 minutes a radiator hose busted. 😂

First of all thank you🙏. I was able to find a used module on ebay for $100 that came out of the same year and model suv so I didn't have reprogram anything. Hope this helps.

How far down can the fuse box drop, after disconnecting the rear hinges? Is it easy to pop the hinges back on after the module is replaced?

Not very far. I pulled it down enough not to pull any wires out. It goes back easy, just line up the tabs and push it to click back in place

Do you program the used one?

No I just found a used one with matching part number and it works. Only issue I have is that the used one came out of a car with park sensors and mine doesn't have them so everytime I put the car in reverse I get a message on the screen that there is no communication with the park sensors but it goes away when I put it back in drive so... I don't pay it no mind.

Just throwing a guess without seeing the vehicle I would be checking for short on the fuel rail pressure sensor or checking for leaks and possibly replacing the sensor too.

Do you desconect the battery 👍✍🏼

Yes, disconnect the battery before you unplug any modules because that may send error codes to other modules in the vehicle.

Hi do you have to order the module at BMW or any auto parts store you can buy it

I bought a used one from ebay that came out of a same year and model vehicle so I was able to just swap it. If you want to get a new one then that'll be a dealer only part and they'll charge you to program it to your vehicle.

Parts numbers are not going to match if you are buying a used module, you need to make sure that the module comes from a vehicles that is the same model and has the same options, back up sensors, cameras, etc... otherwise it will show error codes and only way around that is to find someone that can reprogram it for your vehicle and delete or add features.
