Thank you!!! What a stupid design. The connections weren’t even soldered. 🤦🏼This should be a recall. I haven’t been able to drive the car for 2 months. You are my hero!!!🥇

Wow! Your video was the first one and it is exactly what is going on right now with my ‘13 x5 35i. The compartment is full of water but thankfully all the wires are e tact. But it seems per mu husband there are computer connections in this compartment that have been getting wet. This is absolutely ludicrous to put these there …

Awesome job sir! Quick question. I have E70 4.4 5.0i . My idrive knob and back up camera stopped working simultaneously. What do you think might be the issue? Thx for the answer 😊

This was my problem. Thank you for this video. Car is now running but showing Engine malfunction w/ a P21A8 code. Hopefully it’s because I started the car without the lift gate control module.

Where is this module? Also does x5 tail gate open fully by itself or am I supposed to lift it manually?

If I were a BMW or any automotive engineer, all sensitive electronic control modules and critical connectors would be located high and dry, encased in a protective housing between the headliner and roof, or mounted high on the inner body

Yeah but then bmw would have nothing to fix for you then 😂

I found mine submerged in a pool of water. Do you think this will cause a no start/crank? That’s the problem I have. I checked the front ECM and it’s dry with no signs of damage.

I'm curious. Did you ever consider drilling a hole through the metal compartment the fills up and floods the area? Asking because I'm planning on sealing the grommets, relocating the tailgate module, etc...but I'm still scared I'll miss something the the compartment will fill up again. Figured the final safety precaution is just to remove any risk of the compartment filling up. Thoughts?
@YuDaMan2 ай бұрын
tried all that...no success ....raised the module several inches and also tried putting the module in a plastic bag. the issue is some of the water wherever it is coming from wicks DOWN the wiring harness and INTO the module, The good news is that NEW modules are now available in the $50+/- range.
@YuDaMan2 ай бұрын
additionally, there are some splice connections near the bottom of that compartment. Once they start corroding, you end up with issues a new module will not solve. I do have a video out there about those wire splice issues.
