So glad I came across your video, no more blocked nozzles and no doubt saved myself 2hrs labour at the local garage. Cheers dude!

Hey man, I've never diy anything more complex other than a wheel change or adding more oil to my116i E87 until the window washer pump failed on mine. Me and my dad were able to fix it ourselves thanks to your video. Cheers mate you got a sub from me 🙂

I did this with mine a few years ago as I do very few miles in it and it was clogging up due to the reservoir getting warm. This was a combination of warm weather in the summer and engine heat. I now only use genuine BMW washer fluid and have had no issues since as the BMW fluid is anti fungicidal and won’t turn into jelly. I suppose any anti fungicidal washer fluid will do the same job but as I use very little of it I’m happy to pay for the BMW stuff. If you do a lot of miles and regularly use your washers, the cheaper stuff will be ok. Although the job isn’t too taxing, it is a pain compared with most other cars that have the reservoir in the engine bay. Nice job M Tech Guy, keep the videos coming 👍

Cheers for sharing Sixcylinders, I started using the genuine BMW washer fluid a few years ago too, it’s good stuff and relatively cheap (that’s what I’m using in this video) You’re spot on, I use it in my M5 & 130i, but use the cheaper turtle wax fluid in my X5 as we get through fluid really quickly with the family wagon. Thanks for watching 👍

awesome, thanks to you I've been able to make the job. I had to replace the pump for front glass. But I got three pumps. Suprisingly the third one is bigger than those two and it is for front lights.

Excellent video. I will give a go as the washer jets of my wife's 1 Series has completely stopped to work. There is fluid, the pump is working but the system is clogged somewhere. Wish me good luck as I am not very good...

I had this exact same problem and couldn't be bothered taking the car apart, I just disconnected the hose that connects to the bonnet jet and connected up the garden hose with a bit of tubing and a tape job. I slowly ran The Hose and back flushed the system. Through the filler hose I could see all this crud come out and let it run for about 15-20 mins. After that I got my shop vac with a small tube taped on the end and turned the vac on and ran the hose. It has been about 18 months and no problems!

Interesting discussion about the topic and where the problem actually may be. I have a x3 20d 2008, and I think the nozzles are the same. Today I took the nozzles apart and used compressed air to clean them. Tested one first! Now they spray about 40 % up on the windshield at stillstand, but I would like to have higher att stillstand! Am I right when I say that there is no height adjustment in the nozzles? You could say it is automatic/default!? In this model, x3, there is a kind of filtercup underneath the pump/pumps. My mate, auto mechanic, says when the pump/pumps do not run, try to knock on them first. I did and it solved a problem! Now I have two them on store... I didn't clean the reservoir nor hoses. My water here is now not very good, too much iron in it. It comes from a well in the nearby field... May be not filtered at all... Here in the country we use "simple" spraying fluid, 50 % in vinter above -40°C(!). I think it's almost pure alcohol/ethanol. I thank you so much for clarifying the main course!

This video is really useful as I've always wondered how the hell can you remove the washer reservoir! Problem I'm having is rattling coming from the front drivers side. I suspect it is the reservoir rattling around as the suspension components are solid with no play.

Not had my e82 for too long but glad the washers working good and strong. Didn't realise they were hidden so far in the front wing- what a lot of faff! Can't believe how clean your wheel well liners are - OCD perhaps?
@MTechGuy2 жыл бұрын
A bit different to pulling a regular style reservoir out the engine bay! Yes big time OCD, I like to keep my cars super clean, it works out well in the long run

Your videos are awesome man! Quick question regarding the washer jets. My rear washer jet on my E87 is not spraying. I can hear the pump working but no water is coming out. Would this video you've done also sort the rear washer? The 2 washer pumps that you show, are they one for front and one for rear? Cheers
@MTechGuy2 жыл бұрын
Yeah one pump is for the rear, but it’s probably a blocked rear jet/non return valve. Check out these previous videos I made on the rear washer- kzbin.info/www/bejne/aarVqJKIoqp0m6s kzbin.info/www/bejne/bXvSgWqhh85smMk 👍

My 1 series pump sprays once then won't spray again for at least 1 hour. After spraying when try again can't even hear the pump engage. Any ideas??
@MTechGuy2 күн бұрын
Might have a blockage, or sludge in the reservoir. If you keep operating the pump the car will cut it off for a bit to prevent burning the pump motor out
@markspiers8452Күн бұрын
@MTechGuy thanks. I will watch your video a couple more times before I start to take it all apart.

I wonder if it's a good idea mix glass cleaner into the reservoir? Would it hard the rubber seals?
@MTechGuy2 жыл бұрын
Probably not a good idea. Get a screen wash from Europe/Scandinavia- they usually have alcohol in them as an antifreeze

It’s located at the left side of the engine at the front of the intake manifold, it has a diaphragm actuator on the side of it

Once it's all clean keep it that way with some baby bottle sterilising fluid every now and then, keeps the gunk and mould away.
