BMW E8X GMRS installation-completely invisible!

What’s your range like tapping into the stock antenna? Cause any issues with the radio? Also can you listen to radio while using the gmrs. Sweet setup, I’m looking to kit out my 35i x1. Trying to make it very stealth

Very nice! A family member of mine used to have an E84. Unfortunately I had to install the antenna that came with the GMRS, because the range of the stock antenna was barely a block. And it also degraded the quality of the FM radio, I believe because of the splitter. But yes, they could both work simultaneously.

@ thanks! I figured it would be pretty short, a great idea though and very stealth. Not many BMW drivers are into the gmrs scene Where did you end up installing your antenna?

@sethowen9486 I have a family member to thank for the idea in the first place! If you'd like I can send you pictures to your email/social. What I ended up doing was routing it up my (A) pillar and through the gap where the convertible top meets the wind shield. I really would have liked it to work with the stock one, so I may eventually try and figure it out but this solution works 100% for now, and what is nice about this one is that it attaches magnetically to a plate that adheres to the windshield bezel; so I can take it off if ever needed; and I haven't had any issues with it detaching.

I custom made this splitter, using am extra 4 pin connector I bought on eBay. I also detailed how to build it yourself if you're interested.
