BMW E90 (N43 engine) Low oil pressure problem 30C1.

The car is 2010 320i. Has a new oil pump and new oil pressure control valve. Filter and oil were replaced some few days ago. Low oil pressure (30C1) problem still there. It comes when the engine is hot, and while idling.
Any thoughts?

You have the N43B20 engine. But it is not listed in INPA. Is it right to take M52K MSV80?

Stop the problem? I have the same problem. Can a pressure sensor be charged?

2 common issues are broken timing chain guide after about 70k mies that get in sump and then block pickup pipe. Or bad service intervals (they are too long anyway) causing oil to gunk up in oil rails an not get delivered to the camshaft and bearings which then overheat. It will then wear the bearings and start to knock and eventually destroy camshaft and engine or even seize. I had the temp issue and it got worse and worse till i noticed a chnage in the engine sound. I still ned to strip down and look at it starting with bottom end to check rod bearings and cam.

I will be taking apart the bottom end of my N43 engine as well Im facing the same problem, though I only got the oil warning twice.

With my experience, 30C1 appears when the coil pack are bad (some bad signal in ecu) or oil pressure regulator is stucked (often by a pieces of carbone). Oil pump goes dead rarely, and you should to check your IBS sensor on a battery. That's your problem, battery has a lower voltage and oil regulator has not able to work properly. INPA/ISTA shows voltage on alternator, but IBS sensor the voltage does not let go through the battery. Primary source for electricity is battery...Best way how to check a health of AGM battery is - turn on ignition, low beam, vent fan on mid and check the voltage by multimeter directly on battery!!!! Battery must have min 12,0V and during starting can not to drop under 12V. In sleep mode AGM battery should have 13V.

@@pavelhorak1888 hi, my car after 20/30 minute i drive apparso the red oil light for 2 sec and go away. And also maybe because of oil the lifters are noisy. What can be?

@@haitimsoussi3916 as first, you should check oil pressure in live time on INPA or ISTA and check behaviour. Than you should check and clean an oil pressure regulator (located under oil filter body), check battery, if the problem will still present, you should to check oil pressute physically with manometer and try to replace oil pressure sensor. If your engine has 200+km on tacho and you change the oil after 25 000km according bmw recommendation, very probably your oil pump is damaged and loose pressure. As last, your plastic timing chain rails are broken and oil sump is stucked. Check this too. Drain the engine oil, remove oil level sensor and check the sump with endoscope probe

I had the same problem. The solution is to replace the oil pressure sensor. After I changed it, everything is perfect. Greetings! n43b20

I had the same problem, the same n43 engine 170k kms.. ccv valve changed and resolved the problem

What? So you had low oil pressure light, and replacing the ccv membrane got rid of the problem?

Hello I wonder if you solved the problem because I have the same problem on an 2009 e90 318 same thing changed everything oil pump pressure sensor vanos I can't solve, when it is very hot the error comes out, I also changed the engine temperature sensor to help the erore comape rarer but it has not disappeared

In my opinion the problem is the ccv diafragm on the cover, still open ever and the oil comes to the intake manifold with the warm pressure, the oil pressure descending and make misfiring

my timing chain is going to be replaced last week of November... The car is a troublemaker : ) I might end up selling it next year...

The guide destroys and go to Carter and when the engine is hot push all the oil on the carter, that oil have some plastics pieces inside .. and get stuck on pusher oiler.. than acuse low pressure ..

We changed oil type to 10w60 castrol. It was okay since than

The oil changed with 10-60, and now it works fine.

install MSD80 loader 2.023 for inpa from bimmeprofs and then check the oil pressure valve % when the engine is hot, 10-60 is not a correct oil for this engine (at max 5-40/10-40 ll04), it's just masking the problem, I also had this issue, oil hot, engine at idle and the bearings were worn, pressure was lost there

@@hachiroku9723 thank you so much for your comments. I will install v2.023 and update you. But, do you now really suggest changing the oil type? The person who changed the oil was a quite reputable BMW specialist.

@@wytzzmf nowadays "BMW specialist" doesn't mean much, the oil BMW says you need to use is of "LL04" type; you could change to oil to a higher viscosity like 5-40, but it needs to be ll04 approved for your engine. indeed there is a 10-60 oil from bmw but it's for different types of engines, it might cause premature wear to your engine
