BMW E90 n52 lifter tick cause of problem and solution

lifter from cil 1 on exhaust side was broken. this created a loud and constant lifter tick. after changing it the noise is gone.

hi bro, my n52 after replace head gasket i have big trouble. all exhaust lifters have 8mm of gap, worst than you.

Did the noise come back? Can we unstick the lifters by just doing an engine oil flush?

There was no stuck lifter. Lifter was completely broken and was replaced. This was my particular case.

Yes, change lifters. One lifter was actually broken and would cause a permanent tick

This can cause cylinder missfire? I was about 200km/h on highway, when i feel the car is not running ok, i ve stopped, run the ista+ and have a cyl2 missfire. Changed the plugs, coils with new ones, cyl 2 still not starting, swapped the coils and sparks, missfire don t migrate. Cleaned the injectors, swapped them, missfire don t migrate. A dead lifter can cause this? Engine runs in 5cyl no problem.

Compression. Yes a dead lifter can cause a valve to remain open

It was fixed by changing the exhaust cam lifters, one was broken. The rest where ok but just to be safe. Yo will need a timing tool. It's a long process, took me about two days.

ahh you spark plug is drowning im oil... you have bigger issues than lifter tick

This was fixed aswell when changing the Valve cover gaskets

A leaking valve cover gasket is not as bad as a lifter problem.
