Can't wait to see this thing do a trans break launch.. also I usually put a bit of assembly lube under the heads of the bolts when torquing stops the cracking and gives a tru torque reading 😊 well stops the cracking from interfering with the torque reading I suppose 🤔

The best standalone for the 8hp, had initial the GCU from htg and was terrible terrible, now I finally have the TCU from Turbolamik and os just amazing driven more that 30k till today. Great choice

I’m going through it now got the GCU from htg and finding out was a horrible mistake! Is the turbo lamik 100% plug and play? The gcu claims everywhere its a plug and play kit… it is NOT AT ALL!

Btw about the little display: that's an i2c display(lcd display, and no canbus), you can google them(i2c display orange for eg) and grab them on the web in the same nice amber/orange tone that bmw has from factory! However the displayed data of it can be displayed on a canbus display instead(if you dont want to have the little display somewhere!)...

Ahhh really appreciate that, i must have read about a canbus display in the works from lamik maybe. The colour of the display is something i would like to change, but fair from an important step. TBH i have a few clusters spare from wrecked, i wouldn't mind trying to get the lamik display inside the cluster where the active cruise control display part of the OEM cluster sits.

I will be swapping E92 manual. More work needed as few more controllers need to be swapped or added in my early 2006 production but all doable.

Actually starting from an Auto Is the easier way because everything is already coded and you have the right pedals. But you can start manual car too! Just need to code it to automatic for certain features but will run anyways! On my e34 540iA as long as the canbus(it has between dme and oem tcu) won't be decoded, it'll run full stand alone! No message exchange between dme and lamik tcu! Only some sensors to wire in! So probably any oldtimer could work too!

More like you will have to go another route on how to wire the lamik tcu to your car/dme or dde...rest is, you'll need possibly to remove the clutch pedal and if wanted install an automatic acceleration pedal...with kickdownswitch and against cars that already have a canbased automatic shifter, that too

@@ZeroTo60Tube hell yeah brother so I bought my bill for $2,700 and I sold the cats for $800 then bought a parts car for $500 sold the catacalistic converters on that for another $800 use that money to buy the downpipes the upgraded fuel pump the larger intercooler index 12 injectors multi-port injection system and the jb4 box everything I bought was secondhand and let me tell you she's a ripper all in all with new tires and everything total purchase price of my build is $3, 400 US

So would i. Thought i found one in a wrecker last week, he had listed it as a X1 but it was a 1 series box. Did get excited it was only $1000. I thought steal the TCU then put a lamik controller in the f series TCU for a retrofit project.

This is nuts. OK, so now you have me wondering if I can upgrade my 6HP26 to an 8HP70? I have a 2005 Aston Martin DB9 V12. I am having the motor rebuilt with more power, forged internals and stroked to 7L from 5.9. The 2005 DB9 has the 6HP26. The 2018 Vanquish has a bolt up 8HP70 that is a direct swap into the back end of my car as they are both built on the same chassis. So one of these 6HP to 8HP harnesses and a Turbo Lamik is all I need to upgrade my transmission plug & play? If this is the case you just blew my mind. Thanks for all your videos. Been binge watching like a crazy person as now I see a solid upgrade path instead of rebuilding my 6HP26 w/upgraded clutches and 6R80 parts.

Firstly anything is possible. However, there is no chassis canbus support for the Aston Martin currently. The issue is when you remove the 6hp all the other modules in the car freak out. It will normally go to limp mode. So if you remove the original transmission, you need a way to pretend its still there. That is what this setup does with the BMW (every chassis has different messages, these BMW messages on work for one specific version of BMW electronics). Or you program the rest of the car to not look for those messages any more. I would love to do a 8hp in one of these early DB9s.... I absolutely love them. One day, if can beg borrow and steel my way to one, i will work out the electronic side for the trans swap.

I thought i found a stock TCU for your car on eBay on the weekend. 2012 8hp from a X1..... just turned out to be a 1 series not an X1 :| It was cheap tho. Lamik stuff gets here quick, so end game if needed we can order it and by the time your bushes are done we will have kit ready to do the trans.

you still have to machine a spacer for the torque converter. your table looks just like mine right now hahaha. i have some parts drawn up. lets work together to get that domiworks adapter kit complete. PS. the dct cars are NOT faster when moving, the 8hp gear set is godly. 8hp7x with 3.31 final drive is way faster throughout the entire gear range.

I did get the switch. You need it per say. You get 3 modes with the BMW shifter. However the lamik has 8 programmable modes, and you will need the switch to make use of all 8.

I’m definitely going to see and check this out!! My 6hp26 needs an upgrade I have a 3200 stall and it just don’t work the greatest burn out for days. Also afraid Of blowing up the trans I’m curious is this 8hp better than the trans out of a 6hp28 trans?

The 8hp70 is the trans that replaced the 6hp28. It is better in every way, however some people prefer the simplicity of the 6hp. That being said i get the impression that is purely because they haven't had the chance to get their heads around the 8hp. The 8hp is what you get in the new m3/m4 and with these aftermarket controllers you can have it shift like a sequential or smooth like a rolls royce. Which also use the 8hp btw. They are in so many modern cars and such a versatile trans.

The TCU on its own is $1450euro currently. However you will likely need things like display, program switch, shifter, wiring and so on. Which will vary depends on how much you do yourself and what shifter you use. As a ballpark i would say allow $3000euro for parts relating to the TCU.

From my own experience after tuning the 8HP shift really fast that you can’t notice any difference between it and the DCT.

I know you can actually program the auto to basically overlap on the shift. It's bad, but you can code in zero time between shifts. However i just dont think the engagement at the tyres is as quick as a maxxed out DCT. However probably splitting hairs over which is quicker. They will be slow close the air temp on the day will make a bigger difference to how fast the car is.

I missed this comment. I have seen people with these on xdrives, but not much documentation on them. Apparantly the 8hp70 x5 box is the one to use. Your transfer case should bolt on.

Currently looking at the htg tuning tcu/harness but after seeing this video I would like to do a bit more digging into going this route.

It was around $4000aud landed and taxes paid but i did get a deal. However the euro has tanked since i paid too... lol. I think expect around $5000aussie for the kit and a shifter. However thats something you can use for life, it doesn't have to stay in one car.

@@Kh.J. depending on the controller. With lamik tcu you cut out the old controller. So there is nothing to be flashed with xhp anymore. Lamik adaptions are made over tunerpro. And with another tcu controller you leave the OEM tcu inside the gearbox and then you are able to use xhp...that's canformance cantcu then

What's the chances of making something like this work in a falcon that's factory fitted with a 6HP ZF??? I realise the expense but if money wasn't an issue, would that controller plug into the 6HP in a falcon and actually work as well?????

ADAMLZ was originally using a 6R80 (Fords version of the ZF6) in his barra mustang with a HTG controller, so it is possible. This was a while a go and the HTG seems a lot better now. There are also a few controllers from the states, but nothing quite as sorted as this Lamik setup for the retail user.

It was around $4000aud landed with taxes paid. Kinda killer but if you look at what a decent trans is worth, sequential, built auto or DCT that can handle this power and fit any vehicle the kit makes a lot of sense.
Its around $3000euros or $5000aud landed by the time you pay all the taxes. I got hit with GST and import duty on everything, then import duty on some of the parts.
