BMW E90 trunk release switch replacement (DIY26)

this is a 2008 BMW 328i. i think this is a common problem with E90's. melting trunk release switch.

I got mine out by releasing the metal clip on the top of the handle no need to take off the panel

@@angelyanik4460 look at his video again around the 3 minute mark. I just pried out to switch assembly. Disconnected the wires reconnected new switch and pushed it back into place

Thanks great video. As others have said, it's possible to get the release button out without removing the trunk interior trim. Just use a plastic trim tool and work from the top as you did.

Didn't need to remove the trunk lining, the latch pop's out without going near the lining

Is this just replacing the black rubber part because it gets melted or it because the trunk mechanism is broken

This is specifically because the release switch that you grip melts under extreme heat conditions.
