I wanted to buy one of these intakes but got decent money for the car and bought a M4 2 years ago. This video is making me consider going back to the V8.

Certainly a sound investment currently the e92 & with the long list of faults that’s hitting the S55 it’s put me off making the switch to an F80 M3 now

@@stoneautomotive sounds like an invitation for a ride 😁 I love the sound of NA engines and I made the decision to go for an E46 M3 manual, reader than an E92 M3 and these downshifts give me an itch but I can't let the E46 go. 😁

@@J555K mate stopped doing demo rides for strangers years ago as I just get to carried away 😅 There fantastic cars with a few upgrades completed, standard I found it pretty bland compared to the e46 but modified vs modified I think the e92 takes the win now 😮

I have the eventuri plenum and also saw the story of one of their trumpets breaking after a track day. Evolve noted on m3post that it was their prototype that they used for development, and the manufacturing and curing process for their production plenums is different. They have over 500 of those plenums out now and I've had mine for a year and 15,000 miles trouble free.

Hopefully that is true, strange how they asked for the post to be deleted on the Facebook group rather than reply with the comment you have mentioned & why was a prototype released out to the public for sale 🤔 as mentioned I read the article a while back on the S54 one failing and thought I’ll stay clear of that.. fingers crossed it’s an isolated incident that won’t effect yours 👍

With the rate these plenums sell at it won't be too long before we find out if this is actually a one off prototype failure or something larger and more concerning. Sounds absolutely epic James ! The smile says it all. Well , well worth the outlay. The car sits really nice too , is that standard suspension ? I'd love a CSL style carbon intake on my E46 but I just can't justify the outlay personally. The closest I would get would be the eventuri. Great content mate , keep it coming.

Thanks Steve 😬 Suspension is stock competition EDC dampers & Eibach springs (would like it a smidge lower at the front but think I’m asking for clearance issues with speed bumps round my way 😅 Honestly it’s a fantastic upgrade, certainly not cheap but keep an eye open for a used one and keep your stock stuff and you shouldn’t see a loss - literally a different car 😎

@@stoneautomotive I even toyed with the idea of the K and N cone for my M3 but have read mixed reviews. Heat soak and a loss of performance being the main one which is a shame because its more in my budget ! I think your E92 sits just right , I had to watch video again just for that sound !! Love it.

Nice!! I have the Meisterschaft GTC. Thinking about getting an RPK x-pipe with HFC... will this be too loud for the carbon fiber plenum?

Although I don’t have a direct comparison, I have a carbon plenum lid and elbow with Dinan muffler. Once I added the x-pipe with HFC it did drown out the induction quite considerably. This Karbonius system is louder than my setup so you may not entirely drown this plenum out

Great video James, I notice on the Karbonus website they do 2 versions.... 1 is described as round (presumably for the round BMW badge on top??) do you know if both versions are the same but just have different spaces on top for the badges ? Any advice welcome thks

The back box has had the PCW “2 pipe” modification, currently in the process of sourcing a standard back box to see how it sounds with majority intake 😬

If you had to buy again, would you get a matte in plain weave? I feel gloss wouldn't hold over time running track days.

Personally I would go gloss every time, it just looks great when you open the bonnets where’s the matt finish almost looks like the factory plastic until your up close to it. My e46 M3 airbox is gloss and been around Europe & Nurburgring and still really shiny 👍

@@stoneautomotive yea man I been watching your build on YT! Once mines been serviced and had the bearings done I think I’ll get a plenum I seen one for £1300 just the plenum with ‘haimus racing’ which is the cheapest I’ve found but still want the intake which is another 700.
