Silicone hoses and brass T’s saved my turbos. Coolant was leaking bad because the plastic melted. Once I changed it it runs like money.
@bryanderksen44484 жыл бұрын
Nice clean installation! I appreciate the care to heat-bend the plastic panel so you have the option to restore it to OEM in the future. Nothing worse that a BMW attacked by a Sawzall
@IKhanNot4 жыл бұрын
Actually the stock intake is just fine. All that one needs to do is put a 90 degree thermostat and reprogram the DME so the coolant temperature runs at 90 degrees instead of 105 degrees. It will result in less heat soak (which these N63s are known for). BMW programs the ECU on V8 motors to run really hot because it gets 1 MPG more but in the long run ruins all of the seals, gaskets and melts plastic parts.

@IKhanNot4 ай бұрын
@@MrRW88 I'm lying how? BMW N63s are programmed to run at 105c to 115c (higher temps in eco mode) and that does lead to heat soak issues especially on a hot vee motor. Coolant line leaks are very common on those engines and the aftermarket makes a 90c thermostat. The customer reception has been good on that new part. Also are you going to deny CAFE and EPA stuff too?
@ryxn983 ай бұрын
@@IKhanNot I’ve been dealing with the coolant line issue for a minute now, pretty much replaced the whole coolant system at this point. getting one of these after market thermostats that are programmed to sit at 95 can help prevent this in the future?

Does this actually net any real gain in performance? The size difference in the factory tubing and the fact it already draws air from the same location makes me wonder if you get any gains whatsoever. Would be awesome to see a head to head comparison on a dyno. I'm sure it sounds a bit different without the airbox though. I just wouldn't want to waste money on a mod that doesn't net any gains and have to fuss with fitment issues. Not saying anything against this buildup, its very cool! But I'd love to see some numbers if possible.

Has anybody tried this with the ARM Motorsports Front Facing CAI?? I have them installed but the driver side intake is causing a whistling sound bc the cone isn’t perfectly in. Only reason the cone isn’t snug is bc the last elbow that puts the filter behind the kidney grille aims the cone at the strut bar/brace and makes it hard to get on. The kit also doesn’t come with the extra extension Split Mod used before attaching the filter. If anyone has the ARM Motorsports FF CAI for the N63, lemme know Edit: it was the PCV😂 the hose was lil worn and causing the whistling sound
