Great video! I used it to change my own oil for the first time in my life and it was super easy to follow. The only gotcha I had was discovering that the oil plug on my xDrive GT is different (17mm socket made of metal with a copper washer) and kudos to those who pointed out the correct gasket position on the oil filter cap. I will never be paying to have my oil changed again!

I was deciding between the two also! Except 2012 for each. The 2015 C300 are very nice interior wise. But I always felt BMW's were more responsive and had better driving feel. Honestly you should research long term reliability of both engines. I only know of the n20 (328i) which has issues dealing with - timing chain (Used high mileage) - blown turbos so I would highly recommend having someone look at those if your looking at used cars. BMW replaced this engine in the LCI of the car as well. (Just heads up)

Sounds like someone has been doing the BMW recommended 15 000miles oil change intervals which is rated for the genuine BMW oil and even then that is just absurd, oil degrades and loses its properties after 6 months regardless of the miles.

No I do not believe the parts are interchangeable. And yeah I totally get your concern with the plastics on integral parts. Ask BMW why the timing chain guides are plastic as well lol. When you do install your new plastic drain plug (a new one is required each oil change) make sure to torque to spec and do not over tighten. If you strip the threads on your plastic oil pan its going to be a much costlier job.

@@MatthewWong so besides oil and filter change, is there any others thing I have to pay attention to? or unless the car shows something needs to be replaced then replace it? Thanks
@MatthewWong6 жыл бұрын
@@danforyou1 at 65k miles there are many things that may need to be done depending on previous maintenance history. At 65k miles I would probably do all the following: www.driverside.com/service-schedule/detailview/bmw-3_series-2013-59914-130366-344882?mileage=65000 most of which are just inspection items. Making sure theres no beyond normal wear outside the oil change and oil filter. additionally I would probably have the air filter changed (depending on when that was last done), flushed the brake fluid which BMW recommends every 2 years, and depending on driving history probably have done spark plugs. Kies Motorsport has a great instructional on it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qGebkoGLd76IpKc Besides that just making sure that tires are rotated and have tread, brake pads are good, all lights are functional thats pretty much it at 65k miles. Some things you might want to watch out for is the "timing chain whine" on n20 engines which is an early sign of the timing chain stretching however that is pretty rare in terms of % of occurrence in n20 engines. You can find more info on the timing chain on bimmerposts forums. In summary, pretty much the oil, oil filter, air filter are the immediate items followed by spark plugs and brake fluid flush. Then from there its just things that if the car shows something needing to be replaced.
