There are holes on the subframe that allow you to see and feel if the mounts have failed, outside of doing a rock back and forth check. These are fluid filled mounts and there is potential for them to leak, puncture. Great vid!

As an owner of an F30 328i I'm super grateful for this series. I intend to own the car for 150k miles and do as much of the work as I can. Being a SULEV car in Oregon a huge portion of the engines components are covered until 150k miles since they relate to emissions regulations and I intend to try and make use of that warranty.

When you removed the vacuum hose from the engine cover, oil was coming out of the engine cover and hose.. I would replacing your vacuum pump. On the vacuum pump side where the vacuum hose connects (pipe) , there's a one way check valve with a diaphragm. The diaphragm is torn. You can just replace the "brake vacuum pipe" instead of replacing the whole pump. At my dealership, we see this every day. Great video by the way.

I wonder if u do one side at a time so that when u raise the engine up by the support bar, the engine will tilt to one side and it might clear the stud so that u don't have to loosen the brackets.

Would a sign of a bad motor mount be a fluid substance such as small amounts of hydraulic fluid spraying onto the lower back left of the fire wall near the left engine mount? I’m also experiencing other mount failure symptoms. I noticed a burning smell but it doesn’t smell like engine oil or coolant ?
@grahamepigney85652 жыл бұрын
I had a bad left hand mount on my E39 530D. Symptoms were engine vibration and noise at low revs in Park & Reverse. In Drive, or any of the other forward gears everything seemed normal. The bolt was breaking away from the rubber hydraulic part of the mount but no leaking oil.

Hello mate i have f10 530d xdrive. I have a knock while going over bump during warm days. Cold days i cant hear anything. Suspension and upper mount is new. No issue with control, knock also hear while on traffic light when the car is auto start from off to On ( car is stationary ). Do you think it can be engine mount?
@abrahamputra52872 жыл бұрын
I have the same exact problem. On auto start stop and when going over some bumps but only on the right side (driver side). It makes a thumping noise which really annoys me. I do think i have a failing engine mounting because I’ve changed all the components of the suspension including the steering rack and all the track arms.

@@muzik_realzz Try to fix the lower or upper control arm once again. I was really frustrated and went to the dealership with peace driving in mind. I talked to the service advisor and asked them to find the problem at anycost, and replace the part one by one. After changing the control arm again, and also tighten it with a jack-stand on the front wheel that they are tightening (they told me the correct procedure the wheel should be jacked into normal driving condition before tightening things up.) After that, the issue was solved and the noise was gone for 70%. For the rest 30% maybe i expected to much on my 3 series to run like a 5 series or an e class over bump 😅
