2015 f30. Lower exhaust, pop off axles. Lower differential on jack and push forward to clear lower arms and differential mounts. Once you pass two different mounts and bottom out on top of lower arms you will be able to till differential and remove axles one at a time. Did it on jack stands.

Would love to see a video of the engine mounts if/when you do those. I've got a 2014 F31 328d and was only able to get my passenger side done - driver side is still pending... Access to the driver side seems difficult even removing the ECU and x-drive reinforcement plate. Appreciate both of your past videos on the same car!

entirely possible. my mothers car still has good mounts for now, but if she drives it another 5-6 years, it'll be due!

Alex. I've done these mounts on a petrol shouldn't be too different. If you undo both mount nuts you can jack up the engine enough and try remove mounts without removing dpf or subframe

Can a person just keep adding oil to the differential? Or will debris get in through the seals and destroy the gears?

hey man, the E-TORX bolts on the universal joint linking to the rear diff are totally stuck for me, tried heat, pb blaster, a cheater bar, an impact milwaukee on max level, all it did is twist the head of the bolt like a spring... but it's still stuck... and there's 3 bolts... any tips on how to remove them?

Life saver making this. Got halfway through the job replacing my rear wheel bearing on the 428 grancoupe now stuck on getting the axle from the differential. any tips other than hammer and pry bar? Or do I even have to remove the axle to remove the wheel hub?

not really. if you unbolt those suspension links, theres enough room to pull the diff

thank you for making this, I am looking at upgrading the bushings in my m240i and trying to avoid dropping the subframe even if it would ultimately make my life easier. do you think there is enough clearance to remove the rear differential bushing with the subframe still in the car?

of course. I always look to see whats out there before I make a video, and could not believe how theres nothing out there other than people dropping subframes. you can pull the cover without undoing suspension, that would probably give you enough room, but I did not touch the bushings.

Very informative video, ty. Quick question: would it be possible to remove the output shafts ( axles ) without the car in the air? I had the shafts seals (left and right) replaced last year in October and the MF started leaking again on the right. The mechanics used the exact same method like in your video, even though in the repair manual it states that you just have to pry the axles out and just jiggle the diff left-right and they should come on...in theory, in practice they don`t. My mechanics disconnected the right wheel suspension nuts and one started pushing the wheel upwards and the other one jiggled the shaft until it came out. In my mind, with the car on the ground, the wheels are already pushed up so you should have more space to work with in comparison with the car in the air when the wheels push down. This is just in theory in my mind. What`s your take on this? Could I manage with the car on the ground to get the right shaft out by just hammering with a chisel in the groove without disconnecting/unbolting anything? I don`t want to pay again labor for something that I can do myself. I await you response. Thanks!

yes. doesnt matter if you're on a lift, or jack stands. Suspension has to be pulled apart on one side.

What was your trick to get the last part of the axles back in there? I'm 70% the way back in on both sides.
