nice video, going to buy these jacks stands, any reason you didnt buy the low profile jack stands?
@sirloinbmw78484 жыл бұрын
@2rip00 The low profile version isn't that much lower. I needed to put the car on jack stands because I needed to work on the car's exhaust. You might have noticed in the video that the jack stands are set to the lowest hole and at this setting it is not tall enough to get me the room I need to work on the exhaust while I am under the car. When I work on the exhaust I need to set the jack stands to at least the second hole. If I had the low profile ones, I would just have to use its 3rd or 4th hole to get to the same height I need. Also the low profile version is physically smaller and the triangular feet occupy a smaller area so it may not be as stable as the regular version. So for these two reasons I chose the regular version. Hope this helps.

@@sirloinbmw7848 thanks for the reply.. I recently did a x pipe swap on my e92 m3, and it was quit scary getting under the car with normal jack stands.. Even though I did the job. ill take ur great advice and buy those stands for future work

I like it. Just purchased these jack stands along with a Schwaben low profile jack (2.75" to 24") for working on my lowered e30 and e46. They seem big at first, but in reality they are really stable and allow me to get the car high enough to not be cramped under it. Great investment if you can't accommodate a lift and plus you can break the purchase up.

I have a 6MT. Should the car be in neutral, or e-brake up? Also, is the extended reach jack required or will the same brand (low profile/not-extended reach work). it’s about a $70 diff in price, so curious. Thanks!
@sirloinbmw78485 жыл бұрын
I would have e-brake engaged and transmission in gear to the rear wheels don't roll when you jack up the front of the car. If you only jack up the car to change tires one tire at a time, a regular jack will be fine. But if you want to do what I did in the video, the extended reach jack is needed to make the job much easier.

Sir Loin BMW I also add wheel chocks just in case. They’re like $6 each can’t hurt. Also if you only need to jack up the rear you need them for the front. I’m doing rear diff and don’t need front up

Do you have both Arcan and Daytona? If you have both which one do you like better? With the Daytona can you reach front jacking point without 2x4?
@dylan-nguyen2 жыл бұрын
yes I have an M2c and you can FYI Daytona is made by same manufacturer that makes Snap On jacks 😆

Those are some expensive jack stands
@sirloinbmw78485 жыл бұрын
$54 each. But these ESCO jack stands are super stable and strong. You don't really need any jack point adapters. Each comes with a rubber top and the car's jack points can just sit on the rubber.

@@sirloinbmw7848 I would be afraid without the V shape that it wouldn't rest on the center of the jack stand.
@sirloinbmw78485 жыл бұрын
Matt Garza the pad is large enough that there is plenty of room for the jack point. It doesn't need to be right at the center. I installed my exhaust system at a self serve garage using a lift, and the lift has flat rubber Jack pads as well. The car was fine on that lift as well as on these jack stands. Very stable.

The rear jack point you used is a little risky as it’s rounded. Also the entire weight of the car presses on that bushing above it. Did you see any better options?
