Superb Shawn, I’ve just ordered the F850GS low suspension here in the UK.
@42much15 жыл бұрын
I went to BMW dealer two days ago and thought the GSA was out of my league due to the dimensions... I did not know the GSA could have the low suspension option too. Personally I still like more the GS considering the design but with almost 50% more fuel capacity the GSA is a no brainer. But I guess with the low suspension the bike loses the ESA , so it is a difficult trade off,,, or not?

Well done test ride. You put a lot of info in a short amount of time. If I was to own a second bike I think it would be this GSA 850. Really looking hard at BMW and the 19/850 would definitely be it. I’m hoping my banker has a sense of humor.

That appears to be a great bike. I understand what you mean by the windscreen and distortion. I have the Blue Ridge windscrean on my spyder F3 and it has a Distortion with it but I look over it and never see the distortion. Ride safe and thank you for the ride!

Nice bike. Sounds pretty healthy too! Personally, I think it's a mistake to have Chinese engines, but maybe the consumer pros vs. cons will sway my opinion over time. Another great review! Thank you, Shawn!

Sorry if I missed something ... with the low chassis and the low seat, are your feet flat on the ground, on the balls of your feet, or somewhere in between? I'm 28" inseam so how a bike fits me is my first consideration! :) Funny really as in my early 20's I rode a R100RT on a BMW Open Day without a second thought... having not ridden anything larger than a 100cc Yamaha...go figure ....not sure when I became a scaredy cat...???
@galentong47836 жыл бұрын
Yes, I would like to know this too. Thanks. Is the low suspension and low seat height the same on the 1200? I am looking more at the shaft drive bike.
@huwevans44526 жыл бұрын
In case it helps I am the same measurements as Shawn, I have a R1200 GSA Low chassis with a low seat and that is just fine for me. I did try a normal chassis GS with a low seat and found that manageable but obviously needed to look out for uneven ground. Try the options before you buy.

+Huw Evans thanks for the info ! No fun when you're fully loaded on narrow mountain switch backs if a bike is too tall and too heavy! Cheers

Ice grey beautiful bike . Oops silvery white to me . Comes across as very lite color. What do u think of the GSA 850 in comparison to tracer 900 ? That 850 looks very classic in that color like that72 u filmed at the hop event . Great video hope your anniversary was great .
@Bredaxe6 жыл бұрын
The color resembles a shark gray. I'd like to see BMW compete with KTM by making a 690/ 790 supermoto type bike.

Not that I've noticed, but I'm the worst person to as about that kind of thing because it means nothing to me... But nothing has jumped out at me during all the test rides I've been on with the F750/850's, they seem perfectly smooth! Thanks Todd!

All new super low chassis and seat just 32" from the ground. Still my feet would be 5 inches off the ground!! Only 27" inside leg (at best). every time a new model comes out, seems that it is taller than the last. I guess every male or female rider is over 6 feet tall these days. No money in selling to older, shorter folk like me. You can have all the gadgets you like, you just can't ride it.
@ShawnSmoak6 жыл бұрын
Folks must be getting taller these days, as the bikes from most manufactures do seem to get taller each year... Lol My inseam is only 29" and I can all but flat-foot this GSA Low. Ignore the specs and go sit on/ride the bikes, you may be surprised with the results in-person..! Thanks Trevor!

@@Coldgecko If the old one was 890mm and you can get new 815 that's in totally different category. I have 30" inseam and old F800 with Comfort seat at 900mm was just a little bit too tall. 815 would be like riding a custom bike
