It’s not entirely true that stiffer ARBs do not affect ride compliance, as majority of undulations are random or uneven, therefore a stiffer ARB will reduce ride compliance due to reduced suspension independence of the left and right wheels.

Hi, thanks for the comment. Yes you are correct that singular wheel inputs will be felt more through the chassis over bump such as potholes etc. However, the effects are much less than if the car was sprung equivalently using coil springs to achieve the same cornering stiffness alone. Having driven both options, cars with soft anti roll bars and stiffer springs and cars with stiffer anti roll bars and softer springs; the cars with stiffer anti roll bars always feel much more complaint especially when used on the roads. This is the reason that a lot of car manufacturers, particularly supercar manufacturers, have started taking this route with their suspension design with much stiffer anti roll bars than previous years and generations and softer coil springs to match. This allows them to produce a more compliant car that can still handle like a much stiffer sprung car. As always there will always be comprises to take into account with suspension options and design but we feel that this is the best combination to create a complaint road car with much improved cornering ability. @@SuspensionSecrets It varies amongst manufacturers, what combination they choose. For example, recent Porsche GT cars with higher downforce, have stiffer springs (to support downforce) and relatively soft ARBs, but employ active (or more advanced manually adjustable) dampers to control weight transfer and compliance.

Hi, thanks for the reply. Yes it does vary and you're right aerodynamics and active dampers do start introducing whole new combinations of compromises and combinations. However, the anti roll bar on the new 992 GT3RS is best described as a python!! But keeping it to BMW M2 competitions as per the video we still absolutely prefer the stiffer anti roll bar alongside softer coil spring combination for the ultimate balance between compliance and cornering performance.

Great video. Please do one for a Bmw m140i F20. I'm aiming for the perfect daily street car. Currently running kw v2 comfort coilovers with stage 2 bm3 (95 ron map) something doesn't feel right though when you on the power. Perhaps it's the tyres (Bridgestone potenza s001 runflat) I'm sure bushings, lsd, roll bars would improve however would be nice to know what you'll think in general.

Awesome! We will be covering the M140i soon too. For a daily street car we would recommend a set of camber plates and rear toe arms to compliment your KW's and these parts would transform your handling!

Thanks for the comment. No they are brake cooling ducts that duct directly to the backing plates on the front discs 👍

Only Intrax for M2 sells coilover shocks for rear axle?

No, quite a few different brands make a coilover unit for the rear. Some of these are: Nitron, Moton, AST, Intrax and Ohlins.
