Awesome video, after looking carefully at the cables shown in this video and looking at the product description, I think there's an easier way for those with a small amount of know-how: And that's to splice into the cables by cutting the plug off which means it can be done with any old aux plug and bypasses the need to buy the product and wait for delivery. I'll try this tomorrow morning and I'm 95% sure it'll work.

Great video. I have the same stereo on my x5 and I have the same blue and white plugs but I don't seem to have the little black plug you connected into. I have an aux input in the back but doesn't seem to work?

Thanks, I was wondering what the extra connector was behind the monitor. Yo, ALWAYS unplug negative terminal battery before unplugging blue/white TV module connectors or MK4 Nav unit. First hand TV module fail due to this. Ive read the MK4 will fail also from this mistake. It really can mess up the equipment in these old machines.

I have a 2002 X5 UK model, I purchased the cable but unfortunately when I removed the navigation unit I didn’t have this extra connection on the wiring.

Kritical Kenji Hi Unfortunately not, think you can buy a device that connects in the boot by the CD player, this would require a cable to be run from the back of the car so no easy way.

Hey, it works on E53 10/2002 and up. Check your radio production date, first slide the radio out and check the sticker

Hi so I have e53 and when I took out the navigation screen, mine doesn't have that plug where I can plug in the aux input, I just have the wires that are disconnected, probably some previous owner took it out or something I don't know. Is there a way for me to see some instructions on how to directly connect it to AUX. I have like 5 spare wires that are connected to nothing and some of this must be for aux.

I have a 2002 bmw x5 3.0i I want to change the entire system with a pioneer, {with bluetooth etc.} instead of this cassette and cd in the rear. Problem is, no one has the proper harness. Do you have a solution?

There are also bluetooth ones which connect to your phone automaticly when bluetooth is on

Yes you should be able to retrofit the navigation screen in there, I imagine it would be quite some work.

The only question I have(which may be a dumb one)is if it's compatible with Android as well? That plug in end looks odd from what I can tell, like an auxiliary cable won't plug into it.

Not a dumb question. It works with all android and apple devices. You'll need a 3.5mm audio cable to plug into your phone and then into this cable.

Progamer1453 you need to check what year radio you have. You likely need to buy a newer model oem radio

hey Jody, this allows you to plug an aux cable from your phone into the radio and play your music. Otherwise, there is no provision to plug into your stereo.

BIMMER ZEIT oh OK cool. What year and model do you have the vehicle. Mines is a 2006 BMW X5 E53 Sport Activity Vehicle. Under my hood on passenger side front of motor I have a connector there which has nothing on it. I think it was removed from vehicle I can't prove it I just know it was

If you don't have nav you'll need my other DIY here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/p6mkeIarfbKGjKc and you'll need to get an updated radio on eBay. The early model won't accept the aux kit unfortunately.
