just did this on my 2003 X5. I thought I ordered the wrong kit. it had a 10 pin black connector, and the back of the CD player was a 12 pin. after watching this video, I pulled out the 3 wires in my kit, put them in the existing connector just like the video. easy as can be. Hi Jesus, thank you. First I would make sure that your radio is a late enough model to work with the kit. The early 2001-2002 radios will not work with the kits. Next I would go through the connections again and double check your pin placement and retrace steps you took to install. A correctly installed aux kit will immediately show the Aux option. Hope that helps!

Sooo...I bought an aftermarket auxiliary input cord. It is the same as the oem version with the exception of the wire colors. While following the instructions in your video is when I realized that my wires were different colors. I also didn't pay any attention to the slots where the respective cords came out of. I have a red wire, black wire, and a white wire. Would you, or anyone, know which color wires go where in the existing plug of my x5?

IAMDTURNER hey! Thanks for watching. That is so disappointing. I'd suggest contacting the manufacturer of the aftermarket version to see if they have instructions online like a PDF with wire references. Otherwise man honestly I'd return it and get an OEM version... it is only $35

BIMMER ZEIT Hey thanks for the fast response. I was able to figure it out by looking at how the wires were arranged inside of the insulation. Lol I then matched the wire arrangement to your colors, made myself a little conversion chart and went from there. I now have everything buttoned back up and works like a charm. I will post the conversion for others who may have not known about the oem and resulted in getting an aftermarket aux input like I did. I hope you don't mind. Thank you ! I must admit that I still preffer my 1992 525i a bit more for its more direct driving connection. I love its sound quality although I am using a casette adapter but the radio is a bussiness C43 for E34 which has built-in amplifier. It's the greatest sound I have come across in a car. Somebody gave me a clue in regards to 2003 530i : it should come STOCK with an aux input. I checked my glovebox and it doesn't seem to be an aux input though. What I saw it was a 1 GB sticker ... no ideea why would that be for. It's on the top inside of the glovebox, it seems to be a small box there but I couldn't open. Any clue ? In the end I will probably have to buy the aux kit, not a big issue. Thanks a lot for the very clear and nice explanations on installing the aux kit !
