So, to buy or not to buy? Personally, I think it's a nice-looking bike, decent quality, and does enough for a 300. I think the GS310 edges it for me, though - the big question is, servicing costs - reasonable or not, given its a BMW?

Problem is you will be paying BMW labour rates so it’s bound to be relatively costly. Personally I think it’s kind of a half BMW (not in size, but quality cache etc) so not convinced it’s worth BMWs pricing

Build quality of your video is a bit suspect, why did you film in portrait when all computer and all TVs are in landscape and you can hold a mobile sideways for landscape? Just bought a new G310R and sold my R1250RS as I don't see myself doing any big tours anymore. The wife will be doing the same and getting rid of her S1000XR. The 319R is a fun little machine, had it 2 days and have put 150 running in miles on it so far, most impressed.

Re the aspect ratio of this video, its because I shoot the "5 reasons to buy/not to buy" videos primarily to make into shorts and shorts have to be filmed in portrait as they are meant to be viewed on phones. The shorts also can only be 1 minute long so they are heavily editied down. Rather than waste the extra material, I used the full material to make a longer version as a "normal" video....but by that point I was stuck with the portrait content (I don't have a way to shoot with a safe area so I can produce both at the same time) I agree its not the best look and on my more recent videos I've switched to generally doing it as a landscape seperate piece of filming for the longer reviews. As to the the G310R, I don't think anyone would be wrong to buy one if it suits thier needs, I found it great fun to ride and put about 200 miles on it it the day I had it......and for the use you have it sounds like a good choice.
