I spec'd this option on my BMW. The system will change lanes for you. Just tap the indicator in the direction of the lane change. If you fully engage the turn signal (past the resistance point) it will not change lanes. Great video!

Rolly, thank you for pointing this out. We were (cleary) unaware of this! As it turns out, as long as lane change assistant is checked off in the driver assistance settings, the car will change lanes for you when the driver presses the turn signal in the direction of the lane change without passing the resistance point. When turning on Driver Assist, it will automatically use the current speed as your 'Set' point. There is no need to hit 'Set', which technically uses the observed road speed limit currently displayed. Use the 'Set' button when the limit change is detected to adjust to the new limit. The forward looking cameras actually 'see' the white speed limit signs, and ignore the yellow signs... Also, too bad you could not demo the 'Drive Assist Plus' feature for heavy, slow traffic situations...

As a BMW product specialist you should know that you don't have to completely switch off the driving assistant when you just want the system to (temporarily) deactivate. It's enough to press "CANCEL" on the steering wheel or the brake pedal. When the system should be active again simply press the "SET" button. Also you don't have to rattle on the steering wheel to indicate that the hands are on the wheel. In contrast to other manufacturers BMW uses a capacitive steering wheel that can detect the presence of 3 fingers (or more) that constantly can stay calmly on the wheel.
@bmwofmorristown90382 жыл бұрын
With regard to your first point, that's absolutely right. We hoped that was evident, or went without saying, but thanks for clearing it up anyway. Regarding the need for driver input, you're correct again; all it takes is a squeeze (because of the capacitive touch wheel), as we said in the video, rather than a wiggle or rattle. I chose to wiggle the steering wheel to be more demonstrative for the video. You can certainly choose to rest a hand on the wheel too, it's whatever the driver prefers :)

Congrats on you 330e order! That's a perfectly fair viewpoint, although with the capacitive touch wheel, you can just rest a finger on the wheel and that will be enough to satisfy the system. I continued to remove my hands from the wheel to emphasize the hands-free capability.

@BMW of Morristown Thank you for that my friend. I appreciate that as well as the scroll wheel info. That's super cool. Honestly, I still would've gotten the driving professional pkg anyway. We really wanted it, but doing so would've thrown the price up to $55,600 MSRP and as such, negated the $7,500 federal tax rebate. So I had to sacrifice that, as well as the real leather option. Sigh. I got the Portimao Blue Metallic color and really wanted the real black leather with the blue accent cross stitching. Unfortunately, that added another $1,500 to the price tag and as such put it way over the $55K MSRP requirement. I wish so bad they made it $60k. Stupid politicians with no common sense. In fact, the whole rebate rule should be a flat $100k MSRP for any qualifying vehicle you want. I mean seriously, isn't the goal of all this to get more cleaner cars on the road? So stupid. Smh Anyway, thanks again my friend and have a great rest of your week. 😊👍

Thank you, glad you found the video helpful! Currently the only video we have on the X6 is of the 2019 X6M we featured a few videos back. As far as thoughts, I like the X6! It is fundamentally the same car as an X5, with the primary difference being the slope back roof and rear end styling. If you can live with the slightly decreased cargo space and rear headroom, and find that the styling benefits outweigh those practicality sacrifices for your use case, the X6 can be a great choice. This is especially true for those that want everything that an X5 offers, but want it in a bolder, more stylish package. Anyway, we will have a video on the X6 up at some point as we try to go through each and every model currently offered, so keep an eye out!

@bmwofmorristown90382 жыл бұрын
Apologies. The "lim" button sets a speed limiter. That is, if you set the lim to 70mph, the car will not accelerate beyond 70mph, no matter how hard the throttle is depressed (unless completely floored). Conversely, "set" selects the current speed as the speed which cruise control will maintain. Hope that clears things up!

As much as I love BMW, I hate this whole concept of self-driving cars. I suspect this feature will gain in popularity until the government sees how many people get killed from its use. What the world needs are automated shut off features for phones when they detect that they are within six inches of a steering wheel and moving more than 15 miles an hour. To back this up, there should be legislation that mandates that you lose your license if you dismantle the feature. If you want a self driving car, take a cab, train or a bus.
@bmwofmorristown9038 Жыл бұрын
That's a fair concern to have, and one that is shared by many. That said, it is the future... self-driving cars are not a matter of "if" but a matter of "when." I wouldn't be surprised if there are more regulations put in place over time, and stricter standards in the future as the tech is still relatively new.
