Please note, that you don’t specifically need to activate the Park-Assistant button next to the shift lever. Once you put the vehicle into reverse, the Park-Assistant will automatically activate.

Thanks so much for the positive feedback, we really appreciate that, and are glad you're finding the videos helpful! Activation points (for the panorama view camera) are set GPS locations at which the panorama camera will automatically activate and display itself on the screen. For example, if your driveway leads onto a busy road and you frequently back out of it, you can set the end of your driveway as an activation point. This way, every time you go to back out of your driveway, the panorama camera will active to make backing out a bit easier and less dangerous. Working at a bmw store also I love the 3D parking it’s idiot proof it’s ez to park and u park with confidence when u have 3D parking it’s a must for all bmw build I would say

Good explanations, thanks. I just bought (actually leased my previous two cars) my 3rd BMW with the Parking Assistance Package and never use them, although I always thought they would be useful for parallel parking in the city. My challenge, especially for my wife, is parking in my tight garage with brick pillars. I have to collapse my mirrors and then I might have 2 inches on either side. Do you think the Backup Assistant would work getting out of my garage with collapsed side mirrors? I looked at the Genesis remote control feature and that was really slick.

You're very welcome, glad you enjoyed the video! Yes, backup assistant should be able to back out of your garage without a problem. It should work even with the mirrors folded in.

I have a 24 440 with all the driver assist stuff or at least what BMW put in the 440. It sort of funny to highlight self-parking in 2024. Lexus, I think, introduced that in 2010. I have to say that of the 2 options the driver assist actually is worth the $700. Rim rash is expensive and the 3d really does help with positioning. The highway driver distress system is another issue!

How do I delete my recorded back up assistant to make a new one ?

You don’t need to delete it, as it is overwritten every time you move forwards again. That meaning the back-up route is always the route you drove prior to stopping. Note: only last forwards movements will be recorded and be available as back-up route. If you shunt back and forth, only the last forward movement will be recorded and saved.

Can it only park next to another car? It can’t detect a space in an empty lot of away from other cars?

It goes by the lines painted on the ground, so it can park in an empty lot as long as there are clearly painted lines.

Hi, what is the difference between active park distance control vs just park distance control? Active it monitors and breaks the car for you as suppose just beeps to warn u the distance? Looks like park distance control comes standard..... I'm looking at it from X3 standpoint.

I assume you want to know the difference between park distance control and parking assistance package? PDC is just the parking sensors and a backup camera; the parking assistance package includes front and side cameras, the self-parking system, and the 3d view.

From BMW, no it is not available or possible. There's an aftermarket solution for everything though if you have the time and budget for it.

If you're good at parking, agreed, it is useless and not as good as a driver who is quick and accurate when parking. However, as we know from a quick trip to any large parking lot, many people are not so gifted. For those folks, this can be a nice feature to have.

Does the recording feature work only when the car is on? Like if the car is parked and someone hits you, does that trigger a recording? Likewise if someone dings your door (I assume this wouldn’t be enough force to initiate the trigger)?

Drive recorder only works when the car is in drive-ready state i.e. when the ignition is on.

I want it to record the whole time just like a dash cam. One time the lady ran the red light and hit me. The dash cam is what save me. The recording feature on x5 is useless. It only record when there's an accident. The self parking seems like a prototype, sometimes it work and sometimes it doesn't. Useless feature added to make a sell...

Not true! It is recording all the time, just like a dash cam. You can either manually save recordings by holding the camera button, or it will save automatically in the event of an accident.

Why not record all the time, dash cam on ebay I got for $20 record when I start the car. Ridiculous!! The self parking barely works. Only works when there's car on the left or right.

We do have 2023 X5 45e with Parking Assistance Package the car braking automatically when backing , but not going forward . Is there another setting somewhere we need to activate ? We mark everything ON in parking assistance setting, but still not work. Any idea ? THX

The automatic braking is only intended to work when going in reverse. As long as it is working in that instance, it sounds like everything is working as it should.

It does indeed, pedal work is up to you but the car will steer.

It's always recording, its just up to you to tell the system to save what its recording.
