I have the 2022 i4 which won't get 8.5. I will upgrade to the i5 in a couple of years. Really looking forward to the i5 video.

How did you get 8.5 on i4? I have an 2023 i4 and it comes with 8.0 and was told 8.5 is not available for the i4. I also have an a 2024 iX and it has 8.5.

I was surprised that it was able to detect the lane markers that were not very visible. I noticed my Tacoma would not detect it when it's sunny. I wonder if it's using Google map in conjunction with the software to make it more reliable?

BMW doesn’t use google maps as its base in the iDrive 8.5.

No, it only appear during traffic when I’m in the highway. It never offer me assistant plus during regular driving when I on the highway. I wonder why,

So that’s traffic assistant, that can show up any highway below 40 mph… out of curiosity, in maps right hand side press Suggestions and see assist plus availability you might be on an unmapped road

Can I upgrade to Driving Assistent professional (on a used iX) I guess all the sensors are there so it should be just a software?

I think there is no eye tracking camera in the cabin so it’s not possible. I could be wrong

What is the actual criteria that makes the vehicle suddenly display the assist plus logo? I have an IX M60 and sometimes when I get on the freeway it takes a minute or two before the assist plus is available. Is there something I can press to engage it sooner or what is causing this? Clear sunny days on well marked interstate freeways in Southern California

Haven’t had the opportunity to test that yet, but if heavy rain has been an indicator I’d say possibly!

Is the iX getting the eye lane change as well?

Not that I’m aware of at this moment, it in theory CAN get it either a software update but there might be a hardware difference that I’m not aware of

I have 2023 Bmw x7. I only allow me to have hand free when it’s traffic on the highway. But never work on freeway, do you know why?

I have same problem. No assist plus ready icon shows on the highway. IDK why. I have driving assistance professional package option for my 2024 X7. @@BMWofFW

@@prostokrasavchik8837 just allows a bit more freedom, the newest version also has eye activated lane change making it easier for some of our disabled users to have an easier drive experience.

Won’t’ have to worry about that… it only initiates eye activated lane change in certain predetermined circumstances… so random checking your blind spots won’t trigger a lane change.
