@@bjornnyland anyway, thanks a lot for all the information you put in your videos. I'm looking for a new car in 2019 and I struggle choosing between buying a Ford Fiesta ST 2019 as the last fossil funny car of my life, or switch directly to electric. The Kia Niro seems to be a very good option !

well, on a tesla you’ll always only get limited power from your headlights, because they don’t have (and likely never will) headlight washers (which are required in EU (and the rest of the world (UN regulation 48)) for lights above 2000 lumen).

@@kennethsmyth You're wrong, they are for any headlight technology UNLESS it's under 2000lm per unit. That's how cheap carmakers avoid the washers. Have a look at section 6.2.9 eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/?uri=CELEX%3A42007X0530%2801%29

Good thing that BMW shows battery %. VW refuses to do this for some stupid reason. So you have to count the bars / dashes.

that is because VAG thinks (correctly) their drivers are stupid and dont need to be confused with difficult stuff like numbers. same reason that the engine temp always points to 90 even when its not.

As an alternative to the standard LED headlights, adaptive LED headlights are now available with an automatic, selective dip function for the high beam. The innovative matrix technology for the high beam increases visibility range while at the same avoiding any dazzle effect on other road users. For this purpose it is divided into four horizontally arranged segments which can be activated and deactivated independently of each other at speeds of over 70 km/h. The high beam segments are controlled based on the traffic situation. As soon as the front camera registers an oncoming vehicle or a vehicle travelling ahead in the same direction, the space in which this vehicle is located is illuminated using the low beam only. This is effected by deactivation of the matrix high beam segments that are responsible for this area. The remaining areas of the road continue to be illuminated by the high beam. Adaptive LED headlight functions also include the cornering light and the high beam assistant.

8:09 Yes, use MJ for battery energy capacity then it is not confused with kW for power. This BMW I3 (120 Ah / ~42 kWh) could be called 150 MJ model.

Works only above 70kmh: Matrix partial on/off switching (in the manual). And not entirely new, my 2013 i3 has adaptive LED as well and switches low/high auto. Change is the high beam is now a full LED matrix (old high beams are halogene). And I can confirm the new high beam led's have a lot more light.

I have an Opel with LED Matrix and those lights are absolutely brilliant. But the matrix bit only works when it's pitch black outside, and no street light. Not too impressed with this BMW one. Seems to flash people in the face. The Opel one actually makes a dark silouette around the oncoming cars.

Some of my favourite cars to have in oncoming traffic. You come up an think what is this guy doing, turn down your brights already. But then you start noticing that lämp doesn't hurt your eyes and also notice the darkening around you. Those are awesome.

Really don't like the way BMW does the automatic controls. I prefer Tesla's way of allowing you to dip/dim the lights manually without disabling the auto dimming. That goes for the adaptive features as well: whether you need that or not has nothing to do with your speed.

Actually I get a lot more annoyed at people mixing up kW and kWh than you saying "how it looks like". I know what you mean, but sometimes mixing up kW and kWh can completely change the meaning of a sentence.
@bjornnyland
@bjornnyland 5 жыл бұрын
It's easy to mix it up. It's "How it is." which is similar. And in Norwegian, we say "Hvordan det ser ut." where "Hvordan" means "How". But as you said, mixing up "how it looks like" is no big deal because people understand you. Just like "alot". Whereas mixing kW and kWh can be quite confusing sometimes. Especially if someone is talking about charging power and capacity.
@Jer_Schmidt
@Jer_Schmidt 3 жыл бұрын
@@Lnd2345 It wouldn’t be a problem if it wasn’t actually misleading, but sometimes using the wrong unit can make a sentence have a completely different meaning. For example when charging an EV you could say “I unplugged when it got to 50kW”, or “I unplugged when it got to 50kWh”. Those two sentences both make sense but mean something totally different. So it’s not so much that I’m irritated by it, rather I am confused and mislead by it (which is irritating, no one likes being mislead).

Niro LED headlight looks like it's on high when it's on low -- well, the cutoff is way too high. I think someone gonna run me off the road one day for thinking I was high-beaming them! I get flashed every single time I go out at night. Gonna ask Kia to aim them down a bit.

this is off topic from what you are doing from the video right now, but been on my mind for sometime. how does the tesla power walls running on solar compare's to the grid? i see how fast you can charge your car at a fast charger or super charger, but most or all of them is connected to the grid and it's depends where you live, is how clean or dirty your grid is! i know if you have one power wall you can only charge your car at only 5 kwhs! that would takes a freaking longtime! how many power walls does it take to have the same charging kwhs that's comparable to the grid? also how about runing all your household power consumption? i also wonder how clean is norway grid is? or maybe see a tour video in the future? thank you for all your informative video! it makes me consider other ev's do exist, besides tesla!
