This video has been very helpful. Thank you! However, I want to point out that the OBD-USB cable doesn't have to be on Com1. All files just need to have the same Com port specified. Don't forcefully select a Com port that is already in use, just make sure that all of the associated files and parameters have the same Com port specified.

And try to use always the same usb port for the dcan. If you use a different usbport it is possible that you have to do these steps again

That isnt always correct as i have done checked this many times and been able to use any usb port and the cable picks up correctly in any usb port

Ok, I'm confused. in this video you say that the Rheingold EDIABAS/BIN/EDIABAS setting for K-Dcan cable is REMOTE, but in a future video, you say this should be STD:OBD. just for clarification, which Rheingold Ediabas setting should be used with a k-DCAN cable? Also, i was told that I should be using the DCAN switch setting for E83 and E70.

Thanks for the info. Is there a quick way to diagnose the cable itself? I was able to connect to my car and did quite a bit work earlier in the year but recently I just can't connect to the car. I am thinking maybe it's the dcan cable but it lights up when connected so not sure if there is an easy tell without involving another cable

great video and instructions. My issue with ISTA is the it drops the connection. It will be working fine, i run some tests and suddenly i get "The vehicle could not be identified successfully, check Vehicle interface and PAD active". Ive checked each of the steps several times and all are set correctly. One exception, I dont have a Rheingold folder. Odd that ISTA would work, then drop at various stages. what is the difference between ISTA and Rheingold? I thought they were the same . Appreciate any help. thanks!

hi they are NOT THE SAME at all whatever you have its dropping out as you have cloned version thats what happens friend you get what you pay for you want genuine software is not cheap

Do these settings to the COM port and the .ini files apply if you are connecting with ENET cable? I know that I'm close because ISTA will read the VIN number, but then it bombs out with the error "The vehicle could not be identified successfully. Check vehicle interface and 'PAD active." Hi mate, Just followed your video and you got my DCan cable to communicate!! (I had to change from icom like you said in ISTA settings). I am trying really hard to run the VANOS test for my E46 M3 through EMS in ISTA, but it seems like I can nearly get to the test page but it seems greyed out. Is this because DCAN can only communicate and write codes, and ICOM is needed for this test? Would really appreciate your advice. Sky

No this is because you have cloned version so you don’t have access to all these kind of things like I do Mine is dealer version so I have full access to everything

I own ISTA D and use an ICOM to short test the BMW's I work on, however, when I attempt to short test a motorcycle, I have issues connecting to the bike in question. I switch the category fom BMW/MINI to Motorrad in the settings of ISTA, and when I connect to my ICOM I do register KL 15 & 30 respectively, but when I attempt to open up an operation, nothing happens. Is there different settings that need to be changed, such as, COM and PORT settings to allow for a short test or is there something else that I am missing here?

Depends on what you want to do ista p is no longer needed since the new ista + I have integrated ista p into ista d so it’s one application I won’t be doing much videos on software for along time as all my software is being updated and all down in focusing more on the repairs side of cars for now

Hi Dean. I have recently downloaded the most recent version of ista+ (4.27.7z). I have also purchased a K+can cable from the link you provide. The cable comes with a program on a cd for inpa which asks to Delete ALL versions of INPA-ADS from your computer or rename all INPA-ADS folders?.. Do I need to load this program from the cd or is there a way of getting the cable to work with the existing ista+ I already have?. I have windows 10. Grateful if anyone else has knowledge of this! I can connect to my 03 e39 540i with my k+dcan cable with a adapter just fine. ISTA+ will connect and scan and show fault codes no problem. It's when I go calculate test plan nothing shows up and also when I go to the Vehicle management tab then service functions nothing shows up either. Not sure what's going on. I've been stumped on this for days.

That’s because your version does not allow test plans very normal wherever you got your version from you been conned this is why everyone comes to me for purchase you get what you pay for Each person you buy from configured it differently and creates the software themselves whoever created this doesn’t understand E chassis cars that’s why that’s happening

I use Ista and Icom A3. It recognised car but dont show any faults. It says Unknown. There must be some foults but I cant see them.

I still can’t connect to my E63 chassis. I’ve checked all the tips in your video and still can’t communicate with Ista or Inpa. But I have no problem connecting to my r53 and e53 x5. I use a kdcan without the switch and used the adapter for double k lines for R53 and E53. Tried both ways with my kdcan but won’t read my E63. Any ideas?

You need the cable with the switch otherwise you can’t get out of PT CAN
