No go. It’s an ugly monster. I just looked at one at a BMW dealer. Are you sure about the infotainment system? iDrive 8 has got massive critics - they seem to have screwed up their old system and even AC adjustments need some playing around.

I think you have missed the door opening button to the side of the seat adjuster on the door. What you were fumbling to reach is the emergency door release if the electrics fail.

Yikes, a lot of anti SUV comments today. For me, I really enjoy a nice practical SUV. I drive a 2021 Chevrolet Blazer. This EV is not my cup of tea but you have to admire the technology put into it. Nice thorough review as usual Anna. Thank You

The doors are automatic, by pressing a button on the door handle. The manual lever is where Anna mentioned, they are meant to be used only if the automatic button does not work, hence why they are hidden.

My wife also missed the button, and looked really confused when she couldn't get out of the car, when we test-drove one 😅

@@AnnaOnRoads However…it shows how badly designed it is because a door release should be instantly obvious to anybody and not some clever but confusing electronic system that might well fail in an accident. Just because you CAN make something, does not make it a good idea! 😱😐😐😀

The iX40 doesn’t have launch control, only the iX M60 has launch control. Other reviewers have gone sub 6 seconds to 100kph.

The door handle is for emergency use. When you press the unlock button you can easily open the door

A fluffy and heavenly day to you as well Anna. Another great review brilliantly presented, produced video with excellent editing. BMW gets a lot of thing right with this car, the interior, driving dynamics (very good for a heavy car) along with the usual good materials. I could gripe about the range (my circumstances the range would be a real issue due to lack of decent home charging ability) but this is a general issue with EV's at the moment for me. If I had one major dislike it would be the looks, well from the front anyway, I really do not like the current trend for the huge nostrils on that kidney grill. Why so big? It has no cooling purpose so looks purely cosmetic but not in a good way for me anyway. Having said that when you are enjoying the drive in such a good car you don't have to look at the outside of the car, which is a good thing. Thanks for sharing Anna.

Hi Anthony, always appreciate your feedback, thank you and I have to say, I do have similar views. The looks - well, for me the colour doesn't do this car any favours at all. In terms of EVs, absolutely spot on - I would never commit to owning an EV without a solid home charging facility - a wall box and solar panels would be a must.

Beautiful video as always Anna. Hope you’re feeling better. But to answer your question: no. A 5 Series Touring would be cheaper, just as spacious and much nicer to drive. Unless you have mobility problems, need to peer over hedges or wear a top hat when driving, SUVs are pointless. And this one is a bit of a monstrosity with that hideous front … and it looks like a Vauxhall SUV side-on. I’ll stick to my GR Yaris for fun (and practical petrol estate for moving people and stuff). The sheep can carry on buying SUVs.

@@pauldorset2124 The infrastructure is very good in Warsaw and Zürich, major cities only. Anything outside and the trouble begins! Quite a few of those small slow chargers but you have to keep a car like this for hours - overnight/entire day to charge it. So there is a LOT of work to be done in this area.

Squirrel. Apology. Brilliant review Anna. From the pictures of the grille I didn't like it. I even said to Love Cars that it looks like they put stickers on the grille but when I got the chance to see one, boy was I wrong. The iX is a great looking SUV. I love the futuristic styling especially the front and rear lights. The interior looks amazing and very spacious as well as the boot with all of those suitcases, Where they your suitcases? If so it looks like you moving or got a very long holiday. Love how quiet and peaceful it was when you was drive the iX and its amazing how they hide the weight of it with the handling. I think its great that BMW lets the driver choose which way they use the entertainment system whether touchscreen or the swivel. With the pricing and the £20000 extras is very expensive but then again you are buying a BMW. All in all not bad at all from BMW. I love what you said "They say you get wiser with age. I just want to be faster not wiser". Brilliant LOL. Brilliant Video and top class presenting as always. All the best Anna. :-)

Thank you Jason. Well, the car is very expensive and I think BMW will have to adjust that. The looks of the iX are not everyone's cup of tea, I don't think this colour is doing it any favours, but as with everything, different horses for different courses!

Anna! I like when you are yourself, don't bother me that you swear and that's why I watch your videos because I hate electric cars. However, it should be pointed out when it comes to fast charging the car that you shorten the life of the batteries, the car manufacturers have talked quietly about this. This was told by a taxi owner who had switched to electric cars and he did not understand that the batteries needed to be replaced earlier than what had been said. Then the guy who took care of the battery change said, by fast charging, the batteries are destroyed faster. Then I hope that those who buy electric cars do not have the charger installed on the house wall or inside a garage. Because the chargers can catch fire and this was a bitter experience for a family in Luleå (Sweden), they had installed the charger on the wall of their newly built house and one day the charger caught fire and the house burned down. So the Fire Service has come out and warned not to install the charger on a house wall or in a garage as the charger could start to catch fire.

If you have a licensed electrician install the charger, it certainly should not be an issue. It is no different from any other household electrical connection.

This cars biggest problem is the awful, clumsy and plain ugly styling. Why areBMW so wilfully pushing out such hideous or boring cars? Yes they drive well and is the car of choice with your eyes shut but I tend to like design and elegance with this thing has never heard of either. I’m sure you will get to to drive the i1x soon and that has the face of an angry mouse overdosed on Gorgonzola. BMW….I liked and owned them 1985-1994 but not since. Lots to like but the look is dreadful. 😳😳😨😨😨
